Tired horses

Hey folks.
Back after a two year absence and I can't stop my horse from getting really tired really quickly. I don't remember this being the case in EA UO 2000, but that was a long time ago. More importantly, I can't remember this being the case in UOSA two years ago.
What gives, and what am I doing wrong? I used to be able to ride my horse for hours on end

, but now it just doesn't have the stamina for more than 20 seconds of going full out.

Put your horse in follow mode. Every time it runs out of stamina, dismount and then remount. It will go back to being at 100% stamina.

And if you are an orc, set up a macro to attack the nearest innocent so when your foe dismounts in battle to use this bug you can attack his mount and watch how fast he recalls

I don't need to type it every time after I dismount?

This game is way more fun at running pace. We're playing UO in turbo mode.
Make mounts an aesthetic object and let's be done with it.

set a quick macro saying "all follow me" and hit it right after you dismount.

I think you only need to do it once and as long as the mount is in follow mode every time you dismount and remount it refreshes its stamina. Correct?
