I think bumping should occur only if the topic moved out of the first page. Bumping a thread a minute after someone makes a bid on your item seems a bit ludicrous.

It's an extremely obnoxious practice that often just makes me want to have nothing to do with the seller.

I was reminded of this thread as I just saw a housing thread bumped a mere two hours after it was posted.
