New Comer from Siege

Hello, everyone, I come from Siege (OSI server) and I just really miss the feel of the old UO. Make no mistake about it, I am a stone cold killer! I have been training hiding and stealth for 2 days and my hiding still has not reached gm. Do skills generally take this long to train? What is a good template to run on this pub? I started playing UO in june of 2000, so I came soon as trammel was introduced, so I really don't know any vital templates here.

I am a poisoner, how does the poison skill work here? Any suggestions to get into the fight asap would be greatly appreciated guys! I'm definitely gonna bring some real drama up in this camp, you can count on that shit! :)

poisonign is a crafting skill here, as in you dont need the skill to use poisoned weapons
you shoudl join IRC room for better information, lots of peopel willing to help in there

Welcome to Second Age. It'll be a bit of an adjustment from modern SP but I'm hoping you'll find it thrilling. Looking forward to camp drama :)

welcome, this era had instahits, meaning you equip a wep run up and it instantly hits opponent. there is no magic damage in guards so you can pvp a dexer in guards, or a mage out of guards. explo/ebolt is a deadly combo, as well as explo/flamestrike and explo/lightning assuming you get a high damage instahit. tank mages with 5 mage skills tactics and a fighting skill work best imo. duels are mainly about disrupting gheal spells and doing more damage than a miniheal can heal up. it takes time getting used to, and there are people who play here who have been at this style of pvp for 2+ years and are very good. i think it will help you to join a freindly guild and find people in it willing to practice fighting.

Thank you for the replies, I'm still needing to know how well dexxers do in the era against mage templates? Is magery a good skill to have without eval if it's only used for healing etc? Are reds allowed in towns or do they get instant guard whacked? How do I make money here in the quickest fashion is my main concern? Thanks again for your replies.

Edit: Are there any good sites that can provide me with all this info?

if your planning on pvping you need magery on your dexxer to heal through cures, and to cure so aids dont get messed up in tournys
dexxers and mages are both good depends on how good you are at using either of them

I want to be a hide/stealth murderer, is that not viable here?

you its viable, if you plan on ambushing already damaged players, i would think you would need to go the direction of a mage though, and you cant stealth on a horse, and no horse means they are going to get away a lot

Hide/Stealth would be hard to use in a successful murderer template imo...

The Tank-Mage Thrives off those massive insta hits, or disrupting quick shots...and the dexxer...well he just needs everything he/she can get...I guess there's room for hiding if you don't want wrestling, but then you might be fucked in the arena...

I've seen Dexxers place top 3 regularly in all the latest tourneys, and seeing a well played one usually makes for an interesting fight against a mage.

no chance... cant stealth on a mount and you will never find anyone not riding a mount...

stealth is mostly a stealing or dungeon chest picking tool. Hide/stealth are not goo pvp tools in this era.

welcome!

The quickest, cheapest and easiest way to make money when new is to create a bard. Provoking makes quite a nice bit of money considering you can macro it to gm unattended in the matter of a couple days.

As for a stealth pk, fighting without a horse would be very difficult, especially since if you ever get anyone low, they can just run off screen leaving you in the dust. If you've already put alot of time into hiding/stealth I'd just turn that character into a thief.

That's a shame, after carefully observing all the shards, I came to the conclusion that this was the shard that I would like to move to permenantly, but it appears murderers are frowned upon here. As for the mounts issue, is there no way to dismount people? Are ethy horses a consideration in the future? The assassin should always be a viable template on any role playing game imo.

The best way to be a stealth pk here is to add stealing and snooping. You need to steal the victim's greater cures and one of their cure reagents then dp them.

something like:

100 hide
80 stealth
100 fencing/swords
100 stealing
100 snooping
65 magery
the rest depending on how you want to play it(tactics/eval/healing/wrestle/med/anatomy)

Can you get by with only 80 stealth here? And for the life of me, I still don't know what insta hit means. Does it mean you don't even have to target the person?

80 stealth will let you take 8 steps wth 20% fail rate on the initial skill use.

It's a way over used term which most simply means there is no delay added to your swing time when you equip a weapon.
