UO Second Age

Hi guys. This is my embarrassing first question. How do you do... anything?
I thought it would be fun to try playing a carpenter. So I went to Yew after character creation. here I am just peacefully trying to use the axe in my hand to chop down a tree, but you know something... I don't see any new players guide on how to interact with objects. So far, let's see... I've figured out walking. Maybe it's because I'm supposed to be using this Razor?

Yeah, I've been looking for one. Not seeing such a thing. However I did figure out on my own how to use my tools. now I'm just trying to interact with NPCs without success.

If you're playing UO for the first time you'll probably notice it has a very steep learning curve. Most of the players here have played the game for 10 years or more, which explains why there's not that many guides explaining the basics, (and even if you are a vet, starting out in UO is still pretty hard).

Have you tried the tutorial server yet? It was specifically made for people who are new to UO.

edit: Also, if you're having trouble, you might want to hop in the IRC channel. There are actually a lot of people who are willing to help newcomers.

Hmmm, even there I encounter the same problem. No menu is coming up as the in game Codex says it should. Is this a bug?

Get on IRC, there you'll be able to get help instantly. Check the top left corner in your browser and open up the IRC client.

Thank you Populus. I did that and they told me to walk up to them and type in chat 'vendor buy'. I hope it works.
