Why is it that hardly anyone votes?

I am wondering for awhile now, why UOSA never is on the top of UO lists, while other servers always are in the top of lists. Each time I vote I am like the 9th person to vote. That demotivates me to vote. Why don't you vote?

same.

i used to spamm vote links in irc 1-2 years ago and gave up after some weeks.
you cant force them -.- and we dont need vote stones for rewards or gold on this awsome server.

we had once a convo about adding vote stones to get free events (ctf, bagball, tourneys etc)
BUT the idea just died after ppl stoped to bump that shit.

I think its one of those things you just dont need to advertise, like the best chocolate or the best cars.

If people want the best they will figure out its us :)

The vote sites are worthless. We get very very little traffic from them because very few people who are seriously looking to get back into UO use them.

Word of mouth is always the best kind of advertisement for a shard like this. We'll get many more stable users than any vote site would ever give us.

Keeping the google standing is also important. We are the #1 site for "Ultima Online T2A" and "T2A". We're also #6 on the rankings for "Ultima Online", which is freaking awesome when you consider we're the first freeshard listed AND the 6th thing that comes up when searching the actual game name. THAT is what is important.

So no, I'm not going to waste time every day with a pointless vote site.

Aye, as Corbin said. Main reason I don't vote is I've never used one of those sites to find a UO shard. Word of mouth is certainly a much more powerful tool for bringing in players.

I found this shard via Google long before I started playing UO again, I think I was just googling T2A for nostalgia kicks.

When I ask people about voting it essentially comes down to 'ill vote if you give me stuff'

I vote, voting be voted out unless I'm out voted in this vote, in that case I voted for voting for votes.

Selfish thats why I don't vote I Love seeing an empty house spot here & there, finding a hall in shame the PKers are forgeting to check (even on the weekend). I bring people in but one at a time, I pick them for the game UOSA is just that good.

Google got me here.

Q: If you search google for say, Ultima Online and click thru the result for UOSA, does that pimp Googles results ? i.e. move UOSA up the list? Any other way to jack the site up the results list on the big engines ??

No, but if anyone has a site that gets traffic, putting UOSA's link would help. Putting the link with the link text reading "Ultima Online" would be even better, if you want to up that search phrase in particular. If you have a well trafficked site that has to do with Ultima Online and you put the link, that would help the most.

we will never beat out the sites that give people in game items to vote, or those who cheat, or those who do both. You cannot force or convince everyone here to vote, and most of your attempts are going to be in vain. UOSA will never be as popular as some of the other sites because they will never give in to cheap methods of drawing players in, only providing a consistent gaming experience for as long as the shard holds up.

For what it's worth, I used that website to check the amount of clients on each server when making my decision which to join. I was specifically looking for the t2a era, so my choices were limited, BUT I did use that site, and it got me excited seeing how many clients were online on this server :)

I think people would vote if a link was put into irc chat every hour or so. It's not something people are going to go out of their way to do, but if they see it while chatting, I think we will get some votes.

Instead of voting goto off-topic forums in various MMORPG websites(especially sandbox types such as Dawntide, Mortal Online ect.) and make a thread with link, screenshots.

Make sure in your thread title to put "free to play and download".
