New Player Here

Post by Remo »

Hi all.

Just started couple hours ago, I used to play on the standard servers but was not able to afford it any longer. I came across T2A by accident, but the game itself is amazing (and I am sure I haven't had the chance to explore even 0.001% on the 45 mins I player (probably due to the fact that I wandered around Brit aimlessly lol)

Anyways, few questions I have:
1. How can I see equipment details? Like weapone dmg, armor stats and similar?
2. So far I found my way to the sewers in Brit and started slaying rats..No gold there yet, any suggestions? I am warrior..Just want to make some gold for starters
3. Are there any guilds looking for a newly EU time zone player? =)

Look me up, my char name is Remo
See you guys online

Hello,

1) Unfortunately there is no real method of seeing statistics without looking up something online. With Item Identification you can ID magic items and then using the prefix and suffix of the item determine what special stats or modifiers it has. For base statistics and other useful information: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=443

2) As a Warrior you picked potentially the hardest path of building up your initial nest egg. The best suggestion that I can make is to initially work on some statistics. Using a Herding macro at the Brit stables or any other stable, you can after a few hours have almost 100 STR and a high dexterity. Your ending stats as a warrior would most likely be 100 STR, 100 DEX, 25 INT. Doing this before you spend much time fighting monsters you can give yourself a large advantage and make your initial fights a lot easier. STR is in direct relation to your HP so having 100 as soon as possible is a wise investment.

Once you have some stats, you would be best to get as far away from Britain as possible. Otherwise prepare yourself for some of the most annoying (or awesome) moments of the game, depending on how you handle certain situations. My suggestion would be to make your way to either Vesper, or Moonglow, and start in the Graveyards. In a GY you will discover a lot of bone armor that you can wear to protect yourself and the money is not too shabby for a new player.

The only way you will have to heal yourself in a dependable manner will be through the use of the Healing skill and bandages. The best way to get bandages is to spend time shearing sheep for wool (There are 3 Pens of sheep in Yew) or collecting cotton and flax. There are two cotton fields and a flax field located on the Moonglow island. Taking the wool, cotton, and/or flax to a tailor shop you can spin it down into yarn or thread respectively and then use those on a Loom to create Bolts of Cloth. These bolts can be cut down into cloth with scissors, and then cut down further into bandages. There are more locations for sheep and cotton as well, but these locations I feel are the easiest of access for new players.

Last, but certainly not least, prepare yourself to read a lot. I spent more time reading these forums and the wiki than I did playing the game when I first started. The wealth of information that is provided in some of the following links will give you more good advice than any one poster could provide in a few short paragraphs...

IRC is also very helpful. Check it out sooner or later. Good luck!

ONEmortal's post is very good, in addition;
One you get like 500 gold or so saved up, go to Yew and visit the vendor houses around there. Buy yourself a cheap silver weapon (2x damage to undead). Then you will kill the skeletons/ghouls/liches much faster at the graveyards. I like the one in Jhelom because its close to town.

Also, log into IRC and join #DG or #C^V and ask away. There's usually someone in one of those channels who will help when they see the questions. Give them a bit to respond as people aren't always paying attention.
