Acquiring newbied items

Post by Yohsiph »

I've been trying to figure out what sort of blessed items can be acquired from skill selection on advanced character generations. If anyone knows of a list that already exists, could you post it? This is what I have so far.

Ranger – boots skinning knife, long pants, fancy shirt
Swordsman – long sword
Tailoring – newbied cloth, tailoring kit, scissors
Forensic eval – nothing
Detecting hidden – nothing
Evaluating intel – nothing
Lumberjacking - a hatchet
Hiding/stealing - short pants, doublet, cape
Enticing - a tambourine

Are clothes that are made with blessed cloth also blessed?

I'll have more in a week.

A couple of interesting things to note:

First, the arms lore skill could yield you a random practice weapon from the list of available practice weapons (Shepard's crook, Bow, Gnarled Staff, Spear, Hatchet, Mace, Longsword, or a Skinning knife), but it was also capable of giving you a battle axe (practice weapon). It turns out, that arms lore was the only way to receive a practice battle axe at all, which made the weapon extremely rare once practice weapons were done away with in early UOR.

Second, it seems that the Leather Tunic is missing from the list of available items that you could get as newbie equipment. If memory serves me correctly, tactics was the skill of choice if you wanted to receive a newbied leather tunic.

Finally, it's also worth mentioning that newbie items had a rapid decay rate when placed on the ground (roughly 30 seconds), and would only stay with your body if you were not a murderer upon death. A few items were exceptions to that rule, namely the spellbook, dagger, book, and candle, but beyond those items, all other items received were considered newbie items.

Ive also noticed that if you select one of the templates already set out instead of going into advanced when creating a new character, it can yield a lot of different results for newbied items otherwise unattainable such as a leather tunic.

Currently the only "newbie" item that remains with you as a murderer is the spellbook. Everything else drops to the corpse, including the dagger.

Thats the difference between "newbied" and "blessed".

No, items that are created with newbie cloth are not newbie items. You effectively create a new item when you craft something, and it does not take any of the attributes from the items that were used to create it, save the hue of the cloth for clothing and armor.
