T2A Taming Question

Wasnt being able to tame and retame then release and tame again able to give you gains in taming? I thought i remembered trapping bulls and such in houses or in stables and taming and releasing them for gains during t2a? I may be mistaken but i dont really remember the "this wasnt even challenging" message appearing. Just curious, would like to know since im making a tamer
