Mage/tamer - which starting skills?

Hello!
I'm looking to roll myself a Mage/Tamer - I'm not ready to train him up yet (need the funds), but wanted to find out what people advise in terms of starting skills to make my journey easier.
I'm assuming taming is pretty slow going? Should I take that to 50 straight off?
Any input on both which skills to pick at start, and which skills to take in the long run are much appreciated.
Cheers,
Hochete

I'd go with Taming & Magery at 50 each.

50 of one, 49 of the other and 1 point in something else to get the free newbified item, like a sextant (cartography) or some nice boots (tracking).

I go with 50 Resisting Spells and 50 Animal Taming. Purely because i would rather train the extra Magery than Resist. But its all down to your preference and what template you are making your Tamer.

No way I'd do that. Fire field will get you to 55ish resist with minimal effort and expense.

i went with taming and magery. taming because it 's slow with taming delay and releasing/killing and the fact dicks tame and leave low level animals still tamed.
the magery was purely for the cost, it was my first char here i started 2 weeks ago.
so far i have gm lore (easy but slow for last 2-3% expect 8-9 hours) gm evalint (same as lore) gm music (45mins tops from 0%) gm provoke (90% fast but last 10% took a couple days) 71.1 taming (got in two hours at compassion before i got bored of griefers) 91.8 magery and gm med, I'm working magery now, took about 4 hours from 50 to 85 and the med I macroed to 70 before starting with liquor to make magery faster to gain.

Thanks for the replies!
I've decided to take music/provo, as I see it as a good money maker to train my magery. I GMd music last night, but I'm struggling a bit with Provo, it seems very slow.
I've created a decent macro (5 sec pause for fails, 10 sec for succeeds etc), but still in about 4 hours or more of macroing last night I only raised about 4% (started with 50).
I'm just provoking a gorilla in MG zoo to attack me; which is what everyone seems to do.
Any advise/input on how to improve provo gains would be appreciated!
Cheers,
Hochete

Okay, so last night I had a fairly good/unbroken macro session which lasted around 4 hours, in which time I gained about 8% in provo, which I guess is about right. Seems quite slow, but I didn't expect it to be quick.
