UO Second Age

I understand the fact that everyone is pissed about the LOS house killing thing and all but, come on people give the guy a break! He provides a place were we can all get away from real life's shit and play a game that we all did when we were all like 12 years old FOR FREE!!!! I appreciate all the time you have given to us Derrick and the rest of the staff that helps out FOR FREE. Some of the stuff I have read in all the forrums threads the crying/raging/bad talk about how Derrick his running HIS SHARD,it is so lame. Cut the guy a break he has a real life just like you and me. There is no crying in UOSA if you dont like it deal with it. Thank you for 3 years of many fun times Derrick I am thrilled with what you have provided for all of us, and hope to be around for many more years to come. Keep up the good Work.

Listen Mr. White knight: firstly, this is the internet, so if you expect people to be grateful, you've made a mistake. Secondly, a lot of people do donate to the shard and are willing to vote with their wallets. (I'm sure you've heard of capitalism.) If you want to well at someone in a particular discussion at a particular person for acting like a douche, im all for it. But nothing is more pretensious than these kind of grandiose announcements where someone proclaims how much more virtuous they are than everyone else. We arent here to be chided by you.

This shard has went through so many rage-a-holic apocalypses over the years it isn't even funny. The LOS issue is just the latest flavor of the month.

Why cry about being able to be killed in a tower, keep, and castle 3 tiles or more deep?

The greatest argument that seems to be floating around here is that NO one did this during t2a which is probably most likely true. This argument extends to "ruining" the experience or feel of the t2a era since no one did it.

In other words people wants to social engineer this into the game by fixing the mechanical accuracy making it era inaccurate on the mechanical side but era accurate on the side of social era accuracy. However, the only people that could possibly die to this exploit are those macroing characters afk unless you are REALLY bad. So... let's add this social aspect back into the game but leave out the social aspect of era accuracy where you could easily be banned for conducting afk macroing in the first place... argument makes no sense but you don't see these same people up in arms trying to implement no afk macroing.

Some people are dealing with it by quitting. That isn't necessarily crying.

While the bug sucks, it is part of what makes UO(SA) great. Just like RL you are never really safe and that factor is what makes the game great.

Raising skills is already too easy with razor (which is not era accurate despite other programs being available at the time). I have been here just under 2 years now and I died many, many times. What's a few more?

If the precious pixels are destructible and you care much for saving them, make better house security, ADAPT. Too much work? Quite, leave, give your pixels away to new players.

People who care will stay, people who don't, I am sorry to see you leave but that choice is yours and yours alone. Don't blame Derrick or era accuracy or bugs. I do not like this bug, I hope it is fixed but its really not the end of the (my) world.

I am pretty upfront with what I think of stuff. If I wasn't....i'd be a liar through omission...and that doesn't solve anything. I have not played any other video games since before Ultima Online first came out. This era and playstyle is what I enjoyed. I'm not crying by saying i'm quitting now.

Its very simple: This "mechanical accuracy" recreates something "new" that never was. If I wanted something new, I never would have came to this shard. So, now i'm leaving and will most likely be playing no video games at all now because i'm simply not a hardcore gamer.

Life goes on.

I wasn't really sure if I thought the LOS remaining was a good idea or not, but you, sir, are absolutely correct. This is, worst case scenario, essentially the end of AFK macroing (with some workarounds). Sounds good!

This is most definitely NOT the end of AFK macroing. Anyone with 43,800gps can go buy a deed, run around for 10 minutes, place it, and macro away safely.

Because dying like that was NOT A PART OF THE ERA. Derrick claims era accuracy, but only cares about mechanical accuracy. Does not compute.

In era there were not neon masks/silver/unbreakable masks/sandals, yet they exist here because of policy decision.

What Pirul said. This is not in any way, shape, or form going to put an end to afk-macroing on UOSA. Anybody who thinks that is delusional.

I just moved into a house that isn't subject to the LOS bug. Turned out better for me in the long run because it released 300k worth of "assets" into my bank box to fund other things. I like patio houses better than towers anyway, plus since I don't hoard stuff I don't need the space. While I was reorganizing after the move I trash barreled a bunch of stuff.

Gone right back to the only risk I run while afk-macroing is determined EQers trying to disrupt a magery/resist macro, rather than every Tom, Dick and Harry being able to MS/CL me no matter what skills I'm working on.

Adapt and overcome.
