how to make polymorph useful

Imagine if you go to farm at a dungeon and there's 3 mages there who are disguised as dragons ready to mana dump...

I suggest that when a player casts polymorph he should be ignored by other monsers. You would also be able to escape pks and gank squads by turning into a harmless rabbit.

What are your thoughts on this genius idea?

"Hey guys, look, it's a noob farming feathers from harpies. GET HIM! ...Wait, he turned into a rabbit. Hmm. Clearly the only reasonable explanation here is that a rabbit was in the middle of Covetous, found a Polymorph scroll, and turned into a human for a brief period of time. Nothing to kill here I guess. Moving on..."

but what if you turned into a rabbit in the woods before the pks/pk caught up while you were off there screen?

how would you know if it is a player or not?

I really wish they would put a sticky up top of this forum that said "We will not make any non era-accurate changes."

Interesting. This "spell" as you call it, will not fool our tricorders however.

There are era accurate uses that work well. If you have a bunch of tames and rename them to a bunch of spam or your char name then cast poly-morph it can fool the eye and you blend in with all the animals. There was a guy named The Deermaster who used to roll with like 50 polar bears and poly himself to one of them. it was the shiz. he would bunch them all together and blend right in with them. Even though you can still see the (tamed) marker over his animals its still enough spam to make it difficult to track you. you can also release the tames that have the same name as you so it is 100% indistinguishable to the naked eye as to if you are one of the tames or a player. Only works good if you have a good size mob. Dont have to be a tamer you can use it to blend in anywhere there are a bunch of stuff that is tameable. Peopel are just as likely to assume that animal with a player name is jsut a former tame that got renamed as they are to assume its a poly'd mage. Sure its more of a parlor trick than a uber stealth tactic but i think thats what makes UO great... all the tiny little tricks that you can combine to make something cool happen

Its not for everyone but he had this crazy multi-utility style character build that let him do like everything. He was awesome to have in a party cuz he could do all this support stuff and other things that just added another dimension to the way the group rolled together. He had all kind of little tricks liek this. He even had this way of utilizing camping. If we were farming an area he would keep a campfire burning so if we got into trouble he just drop a bunch of bedrolls for us all to logout on. It was awesoem we would literally camp spawns.

it's already useful for griefing and the white skin bug, but i don't think that works here.

the problem of doing that is people would abuse it... polymorph then attack the mobs without being attacked, going to events and wiping out the chests/loots/stealing from boss with no threat of attack/macro polymorph>provoke in dungeons etc
