Using axes as a tank mage

I have a ton of power double/executioner axes I was graciously given by a friend and have also looted some off mobs. Any drawbacks to using these on a tank mage? My dexxer uses maces so he can't use them.

If using them on a tank mage, should I still attempt to cycle like a hally?

Doing so would mean you would swing them at the same rate as a halberd. And considering the war axe does far less damage than a halberd, this is a bad tradeoff for you.

They are a great weapon for a macing dexer, though, so you can use them well on that char.

EDIT: I did not mean to say war axe. I meant double axe/battle axe/executioners axes.

Sorry for the confusion.

I've seen skilled tank mages use vanq double axes with decent success.

Even a +25 vanq double axe is about the same as a halberd of force in terms of damage. Anyone using something other than a halberd is handicapping themselves. Not that that's awful... I have a war hammer tank... but for optimization purposes there is no reason to use anything other than a halberd.
