Is there a way to repair?

Sorry I'm new here and it said my equipment is severely damaged. Is there a way you can pay an NPC to fix this, or is it unavoidable?
Only another player with blacksmithing skills can repair your damaged metal weapons and armour.
Leather armour and bows can not be repaired, same goes for some wood weapons like staves.
