Earth Elemental Drops

Currently Earth Elementals drop gold & ore.
During the era of T2A I remember them dropping gold, ore & 2 random jewels.

I don't have screen shots or anything like that, but can anyone else confirm this for me, or an answer why currently the drops were changed.

Being that a bulk of my play was 98-00 and I spent a lot of time killing earth eles with my war hammer fighter, I can confirm (anecdotally speaking) that this was the case

I'm resurrecting this post because I was going to make the exact same comment today. I'm 100% sure back in the day that Earth Elementals dropped 2 gems along with the ore and gold. I went there to farm right after I got my skills high enough and was like "wtf no gems?".

This used to be a pretty sweet place to kill on a dexxer because you could gain your wep skill/parry while you got decent loot.

I tried to find some proof but I could find no websites to back up my claim, but I am certain.

The '99 loot table list the contents of all creatures and this is the case for earth elementals. There were two main overhauls for loot tables that took place around the release of both t2a.and uor. Earth elementals were changed from dropping gold to not and back to dropping it.

I dont believe this to be true. I started playing in Feb 99 and the first place I farmed for gold was shame earth eles...then moved to air elementals in shame. I remember when they changed housing and at that point I had stopped farming things well before that.

They did drop jewels.

ahem...Hint:
Go to a tinker, process the gem to a nice jewelry item and give it to a
female person you do regular business with...(and who usually doesn't leave
the town to fight monsters...)

Read the stratics '99 hunter's guide and will clearly see that they do not drop gold.

I'm not sure when this was changed or what information was put fourth for it, but here is the stratics page for earth elemental loot from January 19, 2000 just before the changes to loot were made. According to stratics, earth elemental loot should include gems and should not include gold.

That doesnt seem right to me as I farmed these for profit, but I was a noob so who knows. I also remember the ore. I cant remember for sure on the gold, but I knew for sure about the jewels and ore. Which may be because there was no gold.

However, the 1998 post says they had gold.

The citation about gold is right around the time that spawn changes were made on creatures, including gold amounts. This information about gold availability may not have been accurate to that time period. Newer information regarding gold amounts on earth elementals is necessary to get a clearer picture.

Earth elementals dropped ore, gems, and necro dirt during t2a.

Gold was removed after the pre-t2a era and later reinstated with the UOR loot revamp. Again, there were two major loot table revamps conducted from 1997-2000. Two controversial changes was the removal of gold from bone magis and earth elementals with the first revision

No they are not dropping gems as of the last time I checked a few days ago. They drop ore and gold and that is it.

I think we are on the same page now, it looks like you were reading the post as if we were talking about gold and not gems.
