UNSAFE HOUSE FIX

Back in t2a days... I don't recal being able to kill people in houses in the manner which I see today...

I have a solution.

At morning server maintinance, do a house check.
All houses placed that day would be given a better foundation.

It would be invisible so as not to change the feel or look of the game.
It is simply an extention of the foundation which goes a few z cords below the lowest z cord of the house.

Problem solved.
You could still kill people near the walls like always...
but you would be safe in your castle. xD

Yay me !

Nay for era inaccuracy!!

Sorry to say nothing will be done. This is era accurate, and as lame as it might be admin has said nothing will be done about it.

It's not era accurate. They are using the demo that is from 1998 and saying you can do it on there so it must be accurate. This is BULLSHIT! NO ONE was ever killed in the middle of their house like this in ERA, and yes a lot of people had UOAssist so it would have been possible.

That demo is BULLSHIT and Kaivans logic for saying its era accurate is BULLSHIT and he knows it!

Is it still innacurate if it worked back then in the demo and it still works now in live servers?

The demo is not from our era and thus is INACCURATE, and to say that there are no posting that say they changed the LOS is stupid. OSI didnt post every single little issue that they fixed. If this would have been possible back on OSI in 1999 you dont think that out of 300,000 players WORLD WIDE nobody ever discovered this?!?!?! Get real....There have been so many updates and fixes it is VERY possible that this LOS bug has been ping ponged back and forth without it being known.

If it was possible to get into Green Acres using a specific mechanic of the game do you think they would implement that???? HELL NO!!

That is as much as an assumption as saying it worked that way in era. Trouble is, how can you ask something to be changed without hard proof about it?

Thats like saying how can you say someone is innocent until they have been proven innocent...

In the recent patch they made it impossible for you to recall into the air or onto water...they didnt prove you couldnt do it in era, they just saw a problem and fixed it inaccuratley....Please explain to me how this is different than the recall thing??

Also, the LOS bug was not around until they messed with the LOS in RunUO to fix the problem of casting through castle and keep walls. So they made a mistake while trying to fix another mistake and now they wont fix their mistake citing that some piece of shit demo, which is not era accurate btw, is able to do it as well.

They instituted Trammel in response to players' complaints...

So we all know what would have happened if this bug had been widely known, instead of known amongst a few...BANNZORED!

However, the Staff has clearly stated that it will not be changed as there is no evidence to sway them that it was not possible in era, regardless of whether players would have been banned for it in era.

Staff has repeatedly made it obvious that they do not enforce the policies of the era.

Therefore, just let it be.

Logically, it would make sense that if you are going to implement/not patch/ignore errors or exploits that you apply the era-accurate policies of enforcing rules around them. Duping is blatantly correct for era, and yet it has been patched out and players have been banned for it.

Funny that.

Funny one of them creates gold out of thin air thus ruining the economy and the other does well...nothing to ruin the game!

Apples and Oranges. This economy has been a mess for a couple years plus (250k for a halberd anyone?). Perhaps not a game changer to people with all their chars built, but people just coming up in the world thinking they're buying some safety and privacy with their home, don't get their game ruined?

For people like me who don't care much about homes or rares, sure not such a big deal. For the real homebodies who do lots of things in their homes and wish to feel safe inside them (especially the very expensive ones that LOOK PRETTY DAMN SAFE), the game is ruined when they get killed 9+ tiles deep into their home.

Furthermore, so what if the economy is ruined by duping? A terrible game economy is %100 era-accurate.

a) Matter of opinion. b) So we should ruin it more?

People "just coming up" will hardly have a tower+. If you have been here long enough to get a tower by "normal" means, you probably know what is safe and what is not.

Again, anyone buying a tower+ knows what they're in for. Also, if you have enough to own a tower+ and dying ruins your game, then your'e probably playing the wrong game.

Not even worth a comment.

What part of this simple concept does people not get?

1998 - Functions in a certain manner.
2013 - Functions in the same manner.

No evidence in between the two dates that it didn't function in this manner means that we should not use it.

Three holiday trophies, for having registered accounts = tower+

Dying isn't what makes it ruin the game, it's the simple lack of logic in allowing the function to carry on at all. Yes, logical according to what once was, what is, and what will always be, in the game code. Accurate mechanics turned from a little idiosyncracy here and there, to an irritating and illogical dysfunction that removes enjoyment. My bad, I want a big house so I can lock out the jerks I know the entire gaming world is rife with.
Pirul wrote:Not even worth a comment.
Pick and choose era-accuracy wasn't what I thought the intention was. If we're going for pure mechanical accuracy despite dysfunction, why then mitigate such things?

Sorry for beating the dead horse, but really, it just seems silly or maybe too vague for my tastes.

Seriously Blaise... it would just be better if you just stopped posting here. We get it. You play on Telamon and Sandro's shard and like it better. That's cool. No hard feelings. We are doing fine. But nearly every post you make just trash talks staff and policy here. It's pretty sad.
