The heater is/was a no-drop rare last time I checked.
I would not bundle these two together.

Bronze has the same "chance" to drop as heaters. You just gotta know where to look for them. And, yes, both still spawn but are a bitch to get. And, no, I will not say where they spawn.

Wasn't there a time in the past where magic heater shields were no longer spawning? Or was that just a myth?

They stopped spawning on monsters, mibs and chests, but they never "stopped" spawning.
