Crab Juice quitting UOSA & unethical tips for making money
Posted: Wed Feb 18, 2009 2:45 pm
I decided to quit this shard and go to another shard that i'm sure most people are aware of. I realized that the staff, economy, and mostly all aspects of this shard cannot be compared to. However, I play UO for PvP. I understand this shard is going for era accuracy, which is fine but is just not for me. I believe the OSI 99 pvp was great for the time given the circumstances. Everyone had 300 mhz computers, dial up connections, and UO Assist. Given that it is 2009 and those factors have changed I feel that the pvp here is way too slow and luck based. It may be accurate, but it doesn't mean it's good in my eyes. Derrick has been the best staff member I have ever dealt with on a player ran shard, I am surprised at how well he does, it seems as if he is getting paid to do what he does.
I may rarely hop on for a tournament or something, but you probably won't see me on here that often. It's been a pleasure.

TIPS
In case anyone was curious I will fill people in on my ways of making money on here. I will reveal everything I've done to make money besides the one tactic that made me the most money, I'll keep that a secret.
Note: I only have three mage thieves and two tank mages. I've never had a resource character or farmer. And I've easily made over 6 million within 4 or 5 months playing on here.
I occassionally would run around with a bunch of unmarked runes and look for IDOCs, corner looting houses, locked door only security houses, and table security unlocked houses.
IDOCs are fairly easy to make money with, just have an excel spreadsheet and record the time, date, and status of the particular house. Houses are Greatly for 1 week and IDOC for 36 hours. So if you have a chart you can calculate the fall times of these pretty easily as long as you check on the house frequently (remember to calculate the 10 mins of server reboot time every day).
Corner looting houses are situations where someone has security like this:
-OOOOOOT
O X
O's are tables, T is a trash barrel, - is an open tile(no table) and X is you as a ghost. Make a macro to walk north with your ghost, then once you get passed the security with ghost move the ghost over to:
XOOOOOOT
O
Then get your other char and res your ghost and loot.
Locked door houses - you should have a stealth thief have him hidden where the door will swing open to so the owner of the house won't walk over your tile and notice you and also so you don't have a pathway block of the door. Stealth in and preferrably wait till they are gone and gate your chars in to loot.
Table security - stealth your char to where they moved the table and are going to replace the table after they pass through. They will be able to place the table on the tile you are hidden in without knowing. This way they can't walk over you or anything yet you can still move ahead one tile to get in the loot area.
Trade window stealing - obviously bring alt char to stealth near where you are doing a trade. Make a macro for Use Skill Stealing > Wait For Target > Absolute Target. Have your main char that is "buying" the item re-target the "Absolute Target" to whatever the item is and then have a hot key on your thief to run that macro right after you close the trade screen with main char. You can press alt + tab if you have windows to switch between the two most recent windows. Also, you can make a mage/tamer/thief and get a lizard or something and build up your fame some so you can just do 1on1 trade window stealing. Lastly, you can make a lookalike character, for example a character named Crab Juice with same outfit, hair dyes, etc etc so people think you are the common tank mage they see around.
There are a lot more things I did but I don't necessarily feel like typing them all out. I may add more later.
