Hey all, I am somewhat torn, need some opinions, should I put macing on the tank mage for the q staff war hammer or swords for the hally,katana? Thanks all!

Both are excellent choices. However people think if you're a macer, they have the right to chug red pots when dueling. These people don't realize the whole point of going macing is for stamina drain.
Halberds = big damage hits
War Hammers = big (but less) damage hits + stamina hits
I've played both, macing is better however people here like to create gimped dueling rule

even if its not just for 1 v 1 dueling, just kind of in general PK hunting/ pking template, you would choose mace over swords?

Swords has the advantage of poison. Poison can be cured via bandages, potions, or magic.
Macing has the advantage of stamina drain, which can only be recovered from eating (limited) and red potions (limited).
In the long run, stamina drain is better than poison on the field.

looks like I will be doing mace fighting! would you recommend the same for a dexxer template maces over swords?

I was actually contemplating this myself for my PvP/PK template...Macing is great when you're fighting a dexer, but I'm under the impression (still new here) that the most common template is a tank...so I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with fencing or swords and use plenty of poison and pots. It'll be quite a bit more expensive, but I think overall it will be a more "winning" template - unless of course I've underestimated the amount of warriors/dexers in the field. Either way, if played correctly both can hold their own. If you're completely 50/50 I'd simply pick whichever your more comfortable and experienced using.

Tank Mages can have any combat skill, including mace fighting

heh, I know...I was just illustrating the point that the advantage of macing (stam drain) is somewhat better suited while fighted a dexer/warrior character that depends on a 100/100/25 setup vs. a tank who's stats would generally be more spread out...and as far as I have heard (correct me if I'm wrong), tanks are quite a bit more prevelent on this shard.
And by the way Roadkill, did you play on GL at all in the late 90's?

Nay, I played on Lake Superior mostly.
And macing vs a mage is great, 3-5 hits and they are at 0 stamina.

Yeah that's true too...I suppose I am so used to pot chugging I tend to forget things of that nature... I guess all in all play whatever you're more comfortable with.
I knew someone on GL named Roadkill, thought it might have been you...
