Ship Sweet Spot?

Before I make an error I'll regret, I want to check. There used to be a sweet spot just in front of the mast that couldn't be reached by pirates. I would pile my ore there and they couldn't touch it. Is that still the case?

No. You can steal from that spot now.

There's no spot on a small boat that can't be reached I don't think.
This should be tested, but I belive on a medium the spot behind the mast is safe, and on a large, both in front of and behind the mast is safe
