UO Second Age

it would be nice to have an oldschool chat menu that would come up using a command a great way to find friends ect.

The chat system works, the button in the client was moved from the paperdoll to the menu bar, but you can still use <ALT>T to bring it up

I occasionally check out the chat system, it does work, but nobody is ever on it.

It's called IRC sadly. I wish people used ingame chats more than external software. Only way to really "promote" the in-game chat is to make people know that it still exists, and then find an incentive for them to join it.

what are the irc details i cant get the one on main site to work

I am unable to bring up the in-game chat system with ALT+T. It says "Chat is not currently supported".

May have been removed post 6.0 client.
I'm running 5.0.8.3
Post 6.0 clients may also have trouble with the map in some places, causing you to be stuck; especially Wind, Tera Keep, and Hythloth

that explains a lot...Wind can be quite the mission sometimes to get through
