Horses cost around 800 at the stables, depending on availability and notoriety.

If you're grey, stay away.
Did someone step into your Firewall a few moments ago? Did you accidentally snoop someone's pack horse?
There are too many ways to be flagged a criminal to go into here

Snooping packhorses (or anything for that matter) currently has no negative effect...this is not how I remember it.
In my search,I found that npc merchants that sell armor, blacksmiths, and armorers, sell only colored plate, unless players have sold them player-crafted silver armor. The difficult part is, they sell a random mixture of colors, and the discriminating buyer has to travel all over the land to find the right color on the right merchant. This takes much time and effort on the part of the patron to obtain that coveted, perfectly matched set of black plate,

This is something I vividly remember, I used to go to the Brit smith and always wear gold plate with dark arms, when possible.
EDIT: Also unsure if all these colors are available

Can someone clear that up for me?

snooping does have a negative effect. you lose karma. i do not remember turning grey after simply snooping somebody (dunno about a packhorse though, but i dont see how it would differ though...)
hemp just curious (not meant to poke fun at all) but how old were you when you remember these things while playing a thief? there is very very little info on that link that you posted that i found. please post what you are talking about directly por favor cause i'm not seeing it.

I've been planning to fix horse and other animals for a while. This may come with the next big patch
There are a few notoriety guides that specificly state you cannot become criminal from snooping
The colored armor on NPC smiths was removed sometime after colored ores were introduced, much like the special shops like Pickpockets Den were removed after player made house add-ons were introduced. I'm not however sure when in era they were removed. There was another discussion on this a long time ago. I'm not opposed entirely to putting it in.

I was around 7 during the era, before I came here I always thought snooping was aggressive in a way. Just read this note and thought it may bring up discussions. The armor I am right about, along with quite a few other things that I have remembered, age means nearly nothing also when digging through all stratics sites.
Main points here are the horse prices and colored armor.

I remember doing this during Third Dawn...I really think this was in for quite a while.

agreed on the main points. i cant remember when the colored armor was taken out. thought horses were 700-750...
i trust digging stratics pages more than ANYBODY's memory from 9+ years ago. so yeah, age to me is (nearly) meaningless. its hard for anybody to definitively remember something that minor from so long ago.

Well, this is also my first RunUo shard..having played a couple Sphere shards inbetween Ren and here, and snooping is a No-No on Sphere shards (the ones I played anyway)

The horse and armor points are absolutely true. I think the horse price had a lot to do with the vendor script, too (less in stock = more money to buy); I definitely remember either not buying a horse or buying from a player at some points due to the cost.
The armor was in for as long as I can remember. People used to assemble suits and sell them, and it was the armor of choice at any graveyard (while waiting to collect your bone armor, which spawned less frequently).
Snooping I can't decide. My memory is hazy but I think I remember getting guard whacked for snooping a pack horse. Maybe it was criminal on pack animals only...? I'm not sure.

The armour was removed from the vendors as the coloured armour came out your correct.
however the semi bronze hues still dropped on skele knights.
they are not a t2a item.
but i wouldent mind them being added [it might add intrest to traders]

Derrick has just said they were a t2a item, it's in a t2a era page (and still existed throughout 2000) and I remember doing this specifically during Ren.

I didn't play before T2A, there's no question it was IN T2A. The question is when/how long.

I already mentioned horses were more around 700 somthing gold. Thats why lots of n00bs couldnt afford em. As far as vividly remember, Hemp you were like 6 or 7 during t2a? I never remember these different hues of armor. This had to be pre t2a, or at the very start. As far as the pack horse gray snooping, he may be right about that. Seems like I remember that.

Snooping did not cause you to go gray under any circumstances. This is documented in several locations. As for the prices of horses, the price was based on available quantity and notoriety, which was removed with the introduction of the fame/karma system. As such we can't really derive much information about the actual price for players. Finally, with respect to the colored armor, that kind of armor was available well into UOR, at least on my home server of Great Lakes. As a late-T2A player myself, if the system was removed with the introduction T2A, I myself would have not experienced it in any shape or form, but on several occasions there were otherwise unattainable hues of both colored armor and colored leather that were available off of vendors during that time period.
