So I think that when logging out at an inn/tavern the character would intantly log out, just like at your house, problem is that this isn't working on some locations, I can't remember all the locations I've tried and it didn't work at, but in particular the tavern just south of the West Brit Bank.

So, is this a bug or am I mistaken?

It works the same in both inns and taverns. If you are attacking something or have been attacked by something in the last two minutes you will not be able to insta-log though

Alright, that means that since I can't log out at the tavern south of the WBB it's some sort of bug... Meaning I havn't been in a fight at all for the last 10 hours, but still can't log a different character in.

I'm not sure what the problem could be. I just insta-logged a character at the inn.

I have had this issue at the west inn in moonglow. what I realized was it had something to do with the location of my character. after trying several attempts to insta log I moved my character into a different location in the same inn, and it worked perfectly.

I experience this from time to time too.

I tried it twice again today and it worked. Although yesterday I did it 4-5 times and failed until I gave up and ran to another tavern.

It seems certain spots of taverns & inns aren't "zoned" right. I've had this problem before, logged back in, moved 3-4 tiles, and then it worked.

anythign to do with your distance to the npc inkeeper?
