Ok, so it's been some time since I played UO and I've forgotten what armor was good for different types of characters. So I'll ask you all to help me out. What armor is good/preferred on different characters? Like a mage, an archer, a bard, a swordsman...

Any char with meditation: Cloth
Every other melee char w/o meditation: 29 AR -1 dex suit

Ah, ok, umm... So like, say I got a dress/undress macro, as a bard, I only use magic when needed, and meditation even less. So in case I need to meditate, I'll undress. I barely touch any mobs and at the slightest sign of trouble (ie PKs) I Recall out. What armor would you recommend?

Also, a dex suit, what is that? Ringmail, chainmail, leather, studded leather?

Another thing, I've noticed that different clothing (cloth) adds different AR, what gives the most AR with regular clothing? And does GM made clothing give a higher AR?

Yes exceptional clothing does provide more AR

just to verify, does any amount of clothing no matter what the ar is effect meditation the same? so if I am wearing just a robe would my meditation gain as quickly as if I was wearing a fancy shirt, a robe, a cape, a hat, thigh boots blah blah?

Clothing AR does not effect meditation at all.

If you use an undress macro, barely touch a monster, and recall before the PK's can get you, then you mine as well wear a full plate suit.
