UO Second Age

Before I get to the final decision, is archery mage still good in this era? Because Im wondering what are the benefits or if not what aren't the benefits. I'd prefer to try out archer mage, but if they'd be completely useless then I'll just roll a hally mage. I'd use it for average pvp, less solo play, maybe for tournaments. Anyone play an archer mage out there? Or why not?

It's not good.

Its bad. It doesn't go on the wrestling timer like a hally so you can't "charge" it.
I actually had 1. I used him in the field but only when we had 3-4 guys on. That was about the only time he wasn't terrible. Just because I was still able to kite and hit their target when I was low on mana etc; and even then he wasn't any good. An archery Mage, unfortunately, died in this era. Which is a shame because they were just so much fun back in dread lord days.

I had an archer mage in 98 and was unstoppable, but archery blows on any template in this era.

Solo, it sucks pretty bad. Group up with 2 other archer mages and you can seriously pwn.

3 archer mages vs 3 tank hally mages would be an epic fight.

Both groups have the ability to sync dump, the archers have an advantage when low on mana; Kite then sync archery shots on the who ever is trying to move in for a hally hit.

Use HXbows.

The downside is your bolts can be avoided by simple off screening or invis items.

It can work in group field pvp for sure.

So I get the assumption that against any group of adequate happy mages or dexxers. Could it be utilized with a group maybe?

Yea archer turrets are hilarious.

One of the most fun times I've had on this shard is organizing massive archer turrets (9-14) and just destroying people everywhere.

Be prepared to be hated tho... people hate getting insta-gibbed by archer turrets lol...
