I'm looking for a newbied blank key, if there is even any left. I was told they still spawn but i've also been told they don't spawn. If you would like to try, create a new character with at least 1 in tinkering skill to get the starting tinker items.

I will pay 1 castle deed upon confirming it is a newbied blank key, broker will be used.

I have one. I tried to sell it a couple of times over the last few years so I guess I'm lucky no one bought it

Why is a broker needed when both the deed and the key are newbied?

It doesn't have to be "used" to be tested. It only has to be confirmed that it is a newbied item. A thief trying to steal the item would be sufficient enough.

You can test it during server wars, no broker needed.

Have someone snoop you to see it on you, your char dies.
Is it on your corpse? If so it isn't newbied.
Have a theif try to steal it.
Does he successfully steal it or if not what's his message when he tries to steal it?


That will test if it's "newbied" and if it is Dyne will give you the castle deed for it, then it's his gamble if it breaks or does not break for whichever house he uses it for.

Man I get why its nice to have a newbied key, but for so much money? Honestly, I wouldnt even pay 50k for one. I just think its pointless and a waste of cash. 99/100 people on this shard including myself use the "lock key outside of home" trick. OR, even better, let the door open to a larger home and just barricade it with tables so if you have to run in fast from a fight you dont need to bother opening it etc;
Is there any other reason a newbie key is all the rage?

I think the super convenience of it is worth the price tag. Especially if you can't spend enough money (someone like Dyne for instance, who is I'm sure rollin' in Castle Deeds these days).

Also, they are extremely rare. Just having one is a status symbol.

For a dueler who lives very close to the action, this would be pretty perfect I'd imagine.

Convenience factor of never having to hit my open door macro and check and make sure i locked it etc, is worth it to me. I've seen people offering 500k before but have never seen anyone actually sell one so i figured i would bump it to a castle deed(what else is there to buy) to make sure i get one of the last ones.

If someone could verify if these still spawn on a tinker at 1/500 odds, or are they no longer spawning...that would be great.

As agreed with Dyne, I will do all tests required.

Lets hope this key doesn't let me down after all this

If you have to run fast from a fight, log out on the porch. Don't open the door for your pursuer, with or without a newbie key!

If you started the fight you won't insta log.
Any time your the aggressor you can't insta log.

If there's any truth or accuracy to that 1/500 rumor, that information would have to come from staff. There's absolutely no way anyone came up with that figure with any sort of accuracy from testing. (Although I hear third party programs can do some amazing things)
Best bet is to ask staff if there is any possible way to obtain this item anymore for confirmation.

I was in vent once when someone got a newbied key. They still spawn.
