Boat Blocking in Cyclops Valley

A bit of a problem I have...I went into the Lost Lands, trying to get to one of my favorite spots from back in T2A: Cyclops Valley....For anyone unfamiliar with the area its one of the better spawns in T2A, offering some of the highest end mobs on the map.

Anyway, I go there by boat (as its the only way to access it) and find 5 docked boats occupying the only beach in the area....the only access point to this portion of the map. The boats are just sitting there, undoubtedly being held up by 1-5 players using multiple accounts...while I don't usually see a problem with players docking boats in such a way, this situation completely prevents the rest of the playerbase from accessing this highend spawn......As it is in T2A, there is no way to recall to the Valley via a runetower....thus the only people who can travel there are those who have marked runes to the spawn before those boats were positioned there or are those boat-owners themselves...again, this makes one of the better spawns in T2A (or the Lost Lands) only accessible by 1-5 players (however many it is that actually own those boats).

While this is obviously mooky, my biggest concern is that its an inaccuracy and an exploit, in actual t2a players didnt have multiple accounts, thus allowing side chars to just sit on boats and occupy the spaces...thus why we didnt see players docking there boats thusly and why Cyclops Valley was never made inaccessible by a handful of players.
Please, could we maybe discourage or not allow players to block off such major spawns?....Again, it is merely an exploit and completely inaccurate that a hanful of players could prevent the hundreds of others here from getting to a major spawn.

There are others way into t2a besides boat... unless I missed something about boats, being the only way to the lost lands...?

I don't think this has anything to do with having multiple accounts considering that a single character can own multiple boats. Also, boat blocking was certainly a part of t2a, such as taking up spots next to the Britain bank or getting a boat in that lake in covetous level 4.

It is unfortunate that it is being used to block a spawn, but I thought I remember there being a way to get to Cyclops Valley by teleporting there from the South?

To Black&Blue...this isnt about blocking off the Lost Lands but a particular spawn within.

To Silverspawn, yes I agree that it was possible to use boats in such a way in t2a...however, if it was allowed and not considered an exploit, it wouldve been extremely difficult for players (or a single player) to occupy an entire spawn in such a way...to have multiple boats occupying one of the major spawns (by a handful or even one player) wouldve been near impossible as it would require a player to be able to maintain those boats by using one account. Clearly, this is an example of players using secondary/multiple accounts to occupy one of the better/best spawns on the map and hoard it to a handful of players....something that was definately not done during the actual era.

In my experience, and by experience, I mean me riding around in my boat trying to rob other boats, I have found that if you park very close to another boat that is parked near land, and open up your plank, it will then deposit you on the land as if you were in the first boat. I assume this was added for exactly the reason you say. Give it a try.

I'm just not seeing how having more than one account has anything to do with this. You can have one character with all the ship keys just recall from one boat to another and double-click the tillerman to refresh them. That same character can even be the one who placed all of those ships, because there is no limit to the amount of boats a single character can place. Only need to refresh them once every two weeks.

But anyway, as Kryptonical said, if anyone needs a rune pm me (Silver) in irc and I will be happy to gate you there.

I had 4 accounts when OSI was live in 1997.

so there were people who had them. I also was a good farmer, and was able to buy anything, even a dozen boats.

but i would not have done that lol.

a GM would have forced them to move in this situation, on all shards but siege perilous (was that even out yet?).

While the usage of boats in Ultima Online can be fun and even useful, we have noticed many players who are actually abusing the usage of boats. Players are blocking off coastlines and will sometimes even block off harbors. We consider boats to be blocking if:
Ultima Onlineā€š

1. They prevent access or egress to another area in the game


2. There is more than one boat owned by the same account blocking off part of a coastline, or other area.


Boats found meeting the above criteria will be subject to immediate deletion at the discretion of the GM. Boats are being looked at by the development team for changes, but until such a time, we ask that players not use boats in such a fashion.

I agree that they did do this. I'm just not sure that we have the resources, or the magnitude of the problem that this would have been on OSI. I'll continue to listen a bit before making any decision as to whether this is something we should get involved in.

ask playesr in irc fora r ide there, i doubt the spawn is being blocked off by one particular person in attempts to stop otehrs from farming it, prolyl just a bunch of seperate players docked there

They did delete many boats if there were many complaints also anything else people complained about.. I was hoping to get there but if it is blocked it is not worth it, but then I have not bought a ship yet.

IMO if it is blocked it is just players being rude.

IMO, this is part of the game, you can always ask for a gate there from any PK you see. All of them have runes to Cyclops Valley.

Teleport works from ur boat if ur a mage and u can see land.
