I would say supply and demand. These paintings are not rare, they have been spawning for years, and continue to spawn. Maybe the painting market crashed? To say the prices of paintings are low due to a shard crash is obviously a joke hence the lol at the end of the statement.

I have been here for about 2 years, and Paintings and shipwreck items have never been worth anything. anyhow, I will give you 15 k to trash it

Well I only recall that from my trammel days, I guess the increased population and widespread trammelitis caused massive price increases in regards to home deco items.
