there is 2 seperate kind of miners maps, non decaying and decaying, better make sure that doesnt decay within a week before selling it. : )

Dyne: How do you tell the difference? Just toss it on the floor of your house and see if it decays? Will this apply if it is locked down or in a chest?

yes, throw it on the floor and lock it down, if it is still standing after a week, it should be non decaying

Oh I never knew this, ill lock it down in my house and let you know

Ok this has been locked down for over a week now still there so its not a decaying one
