just curious about taverns.
i though one was able to swap characters right away if they entered a tavern?
however it keeps saying im logged in.

There has been an on-going problem with insta-log since the very beginning. Taverns are supposed to work like that, but sometimes they don't. It's been hard to pinpoint the exact cause to why they work sometimes or not, but I'll see about lightening the restrictions for insta-logging in taverns. That seems to have helped inns a bit in the beginning.

also whats the log out time for just standing there?

I believe the problem that people are having with logging out in taverns is that they are still Aggressed by something. I just reviewed the logs and that does appear to be the case for your characters last night.

The logout delay is 5 minutes if you aren't in an Inn, Tavern or Home. A house will let you log out as long as you aren't currently in a combat that You started. But the Inn/Tavern logout is not as forgiving, you may not log out in an inn if you have any current combatants at all whether or not you started it, or if you are a criminal.

As annoying as this is, it does make some sense. If you had attacked and were fighting a red in Bucs Den and he ran up to the Inn, you would not want him to be able to log out while you were attacking him, same for guild wars in town.

I used inns alot and never had problems...
