Murder Counting and Gate Travel

Just wondering if we are supposed to be able to murder count people after going into a gate.

It's become a common occurrence to take a little bit of damage from someone, open a gate to your house or an otherwise safe spot, enter gate, suicide, then report whoever has done damage to you for murder.

Era accurate?

I remember doing that at some point on OSI. They eventually changed recall to add a combat cool down because you could do the same on recall as well.

The only known change to movement of this nature and murder counts is in regards to recall. The February 24, 1999 patch notes have the following line item:
You will no longer be able to report people for murder after recalling away.
Beyond that, there is no known information to suggest that this had an effect on gate travel, or any other means of teleportation.

Thought I would bring it to light as I never saw it happening 4-5 years ago.

The gate is era accurate, when we used to fight near yew moongate, people would run to the gate, open a gate and count you.

How to avoid this? Heal them or don't attack a blue.
Interesting system, if you don't attack a blue you can't get counts.
