Well, it seems the majority of the people who play are scared from past experiances of UO.
It seems there are abunch of people who where so badly griefed by stealthing thiefs in this era they all had to make one for themselves. They must have loged in, and where overcome with the feelings of rage and aggervation they got when they where griefed by a thief in a doungen. So, what did they do? They made a stealth thief themselves! God, 5 thiefs in my 2 days of farming.
a pk is one thing. I love pk's and will fight to the death. But a player who would rather grief you with a theif, then come and try to pk you, is just retarded.
So basicly, what im saying is, grow some balls and make a pk. Log off your stupid thiefs. How much fun are they REALLY? 50 root here, 50 perl there, your not really making profits. Learn PVP.

I remember the thieving issue being much more rampart on the original OSI back in 97-99. I refuse to call it a problem, the feature is built into the game how can it be a problem? Some players decided to adapt to the situation and created thieves of their on. Bravo to those players, smart move. Any player who finds a way to adapt to adversity rather than whine about it is ok in my book, whether you think they are greifing or not.

Could you define a theif greifing? I am wracking my brain and I cannot think of anything that would consitute a theif greifing someone. Now a town-killer or PK that stalks you, or just keeps killing you over and over where you have 10+ dead bodies at the bank could constitute greifing, it can also indicate the victim is not thinking smartly and pick another town/bank to hang out at. Change up the routine, find another spot to mine, another spot to chop wood, another hunting ground, another bank etc...

Yes they do make profit by doing that, what you call greifing is what a theif could call farming.
Since you make such a deal about this, i'll give you some pointers on how to adapt rather than taunt and complain in futility.
1. Hiding skill is your best friend, go up to the bank... type bank... then immediately hide. You can manipulate your bank while hidden.
2. If you see a suspicious character making it a point to stay next to you as you made minor movements at the bank, then you need to run from him, or hide, depends if he casts Reveal or uses Detect hidden, in that case just run, theif will tend to stay near the bank and prefers easy prey, not chasing someone.
3. Again, if your in the wilderness, vendor shopping, whatever, and someone comes up to you with some very generic roleplaying lines like "Greetings Citizen" "How art thou shopping on this fine day"... is most likely a theif intentionally diverting your attention from his true intentions.
4. Again as mentioned before, if you simply cannot escape theifs at the bank, CHOOSE ANOTHER BANK. If your hanging out at Brit Bank and expect theives not to screw with you, then you WRONG. CHOOSE ANOTHER BANK.
Hope that helps.
FYI: I have never had a problem with theives. Then again I don't use Brit Bank or Vesper bank EVER.

FYI, i did not call it a problem.
To put your mind to rest, a THEIF who stalks a new charecter, in a newbie doungen is infact GRIEFING. Hes not making profits. A thief that makes profits does not stalk newbie doungens. I dident read your post on how to adapt to Thiefs. I know how to handel theifs, it just seems to be silly that there are SO MANY thiefs on this server. Thats what i was talking about. It was more annoing for me, and a inconvience. Since i just started here and i couldent farm a newbie doungen because a stealth/thief kept stealing my root and tried to wall me in to die. ROFL. No i did not die, but had to run allll the way out of the doungen.

I am a pvper, no respectable pvper will ever have hiding on their template.
btw ive had no problem with thieves at banks.

I didn't read your post to hear you bitching and whining either. You know I made a similar post when I first started too. I understand you are angry and upset, but you will be met with the same responses as I did. No sympathy.
I made my post in the attempt to help you understand whats going on here socially, nothing in your original post said anything about not needing help, being a pvper, or any of that. So don't you dare twist the thread around and try and act like some big badass pvping vet right after making a post complaining and no indication that you could take care of yourself.

Nowhere in that original post did you define how a thief would grief you. I can only go on the information presented to me, so don't you dare attack my advice with a sudden explanation on your idea of a thief griefing you. The way you responded is wrong in so many ways.
I am a pvper, no respectable pvper will ever have hiding on their template.
No respectable pvper bitches and whines on public forums either. So which one is it?
After reading your two replies (never heard of edit?), I am trying to figure out why you made this post at all? Noone will even care nor respond... I could only assume you were having an issue with theives and offered my adivce, instead you attack the one person who had the decency to reply. So screw you...

Actually, i was not complaining about not being able to take care of myself...
I survived every scenario, it was just a bit annoing.
But i am a big bad pvp baddass. The thieves are slowing down the process of proving that, thats what im complaining about. Also, i dident start complaining until i got enough gold to get enough regs to macro again.
I was not looking for sympotyh. I was just wondering if anyone els noticed the fact that thiefs are too many. I mean a couple more people make a theif, thiefs are gonna be only finding other thiefs in the doungens.

Stealing does not equal griefing. Stealing is a perfectly legit game mechanic that provides personal gain in the form of gold and items. You need to re-look up the definition of griefing, because by your definition, the very act of you trying to evade a thief, is griefing the thief.

Swinging a halberd is a game machanic, but if u swing ur halberd at a newbie, or a freshly ressed person its greifing.
Stfu with the game machanic argument.

Well apperantly you don't respond to wits as my previous post demonstrated so I thought I would take it down to an Elementary level for you. The said part? You still don't see your own contradiction in the first 3 posts you made.
