UO Second Age

Please post your thoughts about having a one-time courtyard cleanse that would remove any marked runes within a courtyard. I believe given the age of the server and the lack of castle spots this should be considered. I personally placed a castle and have no idea whether someone has a rune inside, thus I do not chance it. Castles are an integral part of UO and attaining one is a long term goal, many players have. Some may argue that it messes with the game mechanics and if someone has attained a courtyard rune then they have earned the right. However many people are placing castles for the first time and to no fault of theirs there are marked runes with in the courtyard.

Also please do not vote against this just because you personally do not have a castle. Castle owners are naturally a minority on the server but you perhaps may own one eventually or don't care to own one, regardless try not to let your bias interfere. Your decision should be based upon that fact of fairness and would it harm the game.

I own a castle and as nice as that would be, I think this idea is dumb.

Aside from the "I worked hard to earn my castle" argument, why should this be done?

Make the rich upper class pay for the removal, maybe 5-10 million? Use this gold to pay taxes like paving the roads in Yew, and fixing that broken fence in the graveyard.

during t2a i remember people having crates lining their entire inside castle courtyards , so people couldnt recall in (pre t2a i remember people having to do that inside their actual hosues lol
if you are worried about people having runes inside your courtyard, for a fee i will come and awesomely decorate the inside of your courtyard and make it safe at the same time
i would say no to the idea of retro-actively erasing peoples runes that were marked not through illegal means.

I worked hard to fill my Castle Courtyard book with runes to people's courtyards, I don't think this is fair at all.

1. It makes no sense

3. It really holds little impact. Who has a castle that's security is at all based on it's courtyard...

hmm seems I was looking more about practicality than this whole era accuracy bs. I am sure removing castle runes one-time is going to ruin this entire period.

UO is fun in part because UO Players are conniving, and somebody almost definitely has a rune to your courtyard tucked away some place. Congrats on getting a castle, but I really don't think this should be done to. well, basically make your castle easy to secure.

I own a castle. I don't understand how an idea like this could come to place still. When you buy a castle you kinda understand that you have a big wide open courtyard.

There still hasn't really been a solid reason as to why an update like this should occur. "Because I want it" isn't a reason.

Considering there is limited castles on this shard it would raise the value of castles and property in general. Secondly, most of the runes acquired to peoples courtyards were obtained by a bug placing a tower near the castle and teleporting into the courtyard.....of course some people were ignorant enough to carry around runes to the courtyard.
