How much does leather armor impact meditation + how much damage would it reduce from a halbred hit. Trying to think if my medi should wear it or not - thanks!

I just did a quick test with GM Med, 100 Intelligence, and meditating 80 mana each time (20 to 100).

Cloth (2 AR):
Passive Med. (1:21)
Active Med. (0:42)

Leather (13 AR):
Passive Med. (3:07)
Active Med. (1:38)

I think the answer here is pretty obvious. Stick with the cloth.

Wow that ridiculous. What is the point to leather armor then...

There is no point. Tailoring was the bastard of the crafting world during this age of UO.

Even just 1 piece of leather armor has a major impact on passive/active meditation. Leather is basically worthless to mages.

If you REALLY want to sport armor, Just wear the best plate chest you can get your hands on and use undress-redress macro to meditate actively.

Any idea what the difference is between:

GM Med + Leather - (Passive Med. [3:07])

compared to

0 Med + Leather - ???

Would test myself but don't have a character with 100 int that doesn't have any med. Just curious what the passive difference is, and if it's considerable..

EDIT: Realized the chances of someone having a toon with 100 int but 0 med are slim to none also, unless it's a crafter type possibly.

The minimum mana regen rate is one point per 7 (i think) seconds. I think you would hit this min with the zero med.

Protection spell gives 10AR at gm and doesn't have a mana penalty. Clothing has no penalty either, try the jesters suit + protection.

I think you should wear leather on a support mage, even passive meditation at 80 or above is quite speedy.
If you need to cast a lot of spells in a pvp or mob case scenerio though, as long as you can evade melee cloth is better. If you just need to cast a blade spirit or EV, then cast a few fireballs or greater heal now and then usually after a battle your mana has regenerated enough to carry on without need to actively meditate.
Alot of tank mages wear heavier armor though as more protection means less interruption. And usually they just use magery as support before/after/fleeing from/or persuing melee besides the other convieniences magery provides.
Wearing Leather is just an inbetweener where it doesn't hurt to be at least a little cautious and passive meditation although slowed is not hindered tremendously. As mentioned though a dress/undress macro could work wonders.
