UO Second Age

I have discussed this with several other players that agree server down time is at a relatively inconvenient time. Being on the east coast of the United States it goes down at 7am. Like me many other players I hold steady jobs from 7-4 or 6-3. Due to my work schedule I am never able to macro anything during the day. I feel it wouldn't hurt if the server went down an hour or two earlier.
I believe 2 hours earlier would be best having it go down at 5 EST 4 CST and 3 PST seeing as though most of the second age players are from the U.S. and those would be the hours the average person is sleeping during the week.

Sorry man, while I don't have any particular preference for when it goes down I don't think a valid reason for changing it is because you can't macro. Just because you can macro doesn't mean it's your god given right to, and the server doesn't run on your time schedule. That's just boo hoo too bad.

You're also assuming a lot about an "average" person. I work until 3 or 4 AM EST, and I'm an average person. I'm sure there are a lot of people that work nights and play during the day. Maybe you ought to change your job so that you can be available for server restart!

Maybe you ought to find a way to connect to your home computer from work via VNC to log in and start your macros.

I think the server restart is scheduled at the current time so that it is most convenient for the administrator (Derrick).

I live on the East Cost as well and I work from 0600-1700 usually. I remotely log in from work and start my macroing without any problems.

Current server re-start time is right after my wife walks out to the door for work... Perfect.

I live in the east coast and it's perfect for me. I wake up and see what I gained from macroing overnight, then I log out and shower, and then come back and set up some macros for the day and I'm out the door by 7:45. Two hours earlier wouldn't kill me, but then you're talking 4am for west-coasters. So they'd only get 4 hours a night of macroing, before their characters lost connection while they slept.

the server down time is at 9pm in australia..thats still primetime if anything later woulda been better not ealier...requesting a globally acessed server to change its downtime to suit one location regardless of where its located is very selfish and arogant.

Well I appreciate everyone's feedback, especially the kind that is actually helpful and not just insulting. I never was even aware that one could remotely control one's computer simply from a website! That is pretty incredible and it has been great ever since I found a trustworthy website that offers such services.
As for being "very selfish and arrogant"... well that's just not so my friend. I think you are guilty for the same frame of mind as myself, over presumptuous! I will admit I was a little ignorant to the fact that there are those who play this server outside the United States (typical American ) My opinion was not formed out of selfishness or arrogance.

At least 1 hour back would definitely help. East coasters do kind of get screwed on macro time. I've never been able to macro during the day because i'm out the door by 7am at the latest. It shouldn't be too big of a deal for those that play during that time. Its only what, 30 minutes lost time max? Compare that to 9-10 hours lost macro time and its not that big of a deal imo

The shard restart is at 7am because I don't get up any earlier than that
I sometimes need to do maintenance during the no-save period. The alternative would be to occasionally have to restart the shard later in the morning, something I'd like to avoid.

I could easily, within my weekday schedule move the restart to 8am, or 9am, but 6am just won't work for me.

nor should you be asked to wake up any earlier .. if it was me .. days i worked restart would be 6:am -10am ... days i didn't work it would be more like 3pm - 5 30 pm ..

guess your a much better admin then me cause i'm not waking up to insure the shards safe return to online and active ..
