Issues with Test

Derrick,
I tested the changes tonight and think that there's a problem with poisoning/curing.
First of all, my opponent had to use 2 GCs a couple of times to cure DP. The era essay on poisoning clearly states that GC cures DP with one potion.
Secondly, my opponent was able to cure DP with a simple 2nd circle spell 100% of the time. Again, the era essay on poisoning clearly states that at near GM, 2 or 3 attempts are required to cure DP.
What we have on test is opposite of what is described in an era accurate guide. It just doesn't seem to fly.

That guide has been trumped from several sources.
I would suggest doing some research trying to find information to back that one source up compard to the multiple sources for the upcoming cure changes.

Curing Poisons
Finally, one must also know how to cure poison. Generally, the Cure spell is sufficient to cure Greater Poison and below, although I myself am almost a Grandmaster Mage, so that tends to help a bit.

The most powerful potion is difficult to Cure even with this high of a Magery skill; in my personal experience,
I've had to cast Cure three to four times before eliminating a Deadly Poison in someone's system. This spell seems to be somewhere between Deadly and Greater Poison in terms of effectiveness.
Cure potions seem to be the better alternative, since there is no chance of disruption, such as there is when casting spells.
Also, a Greater Cure will cure even Deadly Poison with only one quaff. A regular orange potion that was found as loot on an Earth Elemental was able to cure the 5th level Poison inflicted by a Poison Elemental.
Poison to Cure Chart
- Potion Lesser Cure Cure Greater Cure
Lesser Poison Yes Yes Yes
Poison Yes Yes Yes
Greater Poison Yes* Yes Yes
Deadly Poison Yes* Yes* Yes
5th level Poison Unknown Unknown Yes*
* Several attempts may be needed to succeed

I have read that source several years before this shard ever opened...
This has already been discussed in previous threads. Again, find more information to back that source up to try trumping the multiple sources that discarded that article. Stratics obviously didn't get it right on that one just like several other issues such as spell delays for example.
- Actual code a couple months before t2a.
- Backed by current cure rates that use the same code in '03.
- Backed by multiple UOHOC logs that correlate with that code.
Trumps
- That article.

There are not poisoning changes on test. The only difference between the live shard and test, currently, are the changes to Parry

Then was it just a string of bad luck?

Must have been.
Any comments on the parry change though?

I didn't notice anything usual about Parry. It seemed fine.

Some fuel for the fire, take it or leave it
Sometimes it takes 3 GCures to cure deadly. It will take about 5-10 (NO
JOKE) to cure poison trapped chests.

finally, can greater cure potions cure deadly poison? i know the An Nox
spell doesn't effectively.

But is the change to cure it based on magery level or not? Could make second quote void. I actually had a ton of posts before about curing poison but the power went out yesterday so I lost them all...many of them saying it takes more than one GC on average to cure DP.
