To train an army....

Derrick has said you can teach creatures skill over time...how about NPC's? Can I host NPC's from within my home and train them as I train others using them?
Can I make well honed skilled NPC's to serve as Elite Guards or Mercenaries to hire whenever I rehire them as I go out or to Guard certain things when I leave?
Can I make a monster sheep and release it in Yew, a powerful orc, super gargoyle etc that guards a certain room?

I believe animals have limits on skills and stats. So you can only push them to their maximum limit. I think training is more noticeable for much more difficult tames, where their stats and skills have a large range.

You can, theoretically, keep an entire army of mages and fighters at your disposal. The fighters would be much less useful as their armor would be destroyed in the training process and you can't re-arm them so they'll just be naked by the end of it. I say it's theoretical because you'd have to never stop playing so as to keep paying the NPCs and eventually you'd just fall asleep face first on your keyboard and they would quit..

I heard interaction such as enticing via continuous macro to target random or other forms of targeting will stop disappearance rate. Under your hire I believe if you rearm them after destroying their armor and weapons in their training process reequipping would be similar to clothing your NPC vendors.
A question...have you tried?
Another if you gave a warrior class bandages would they use them to heal themselves much like a mage would heal himself with magic? With minstrels playing and men training or guarding post surely you would have true kings in your empty keeps.
I fathom not many tried so I will.
First test see how long they remain under enticement to stay. I will take it from there. Under enticement and if needed provoked unto each other to train or to kill being grey under my roof as healers heal, guild mages cast meteor etc etc little gold would be required to train an army I assure you.

Derrick has said that you may rearm your army in the same way you customize vendors even with DPed/magic weapons or armor when I asked him in irc. I have been enticing two Paladins all day yesterday and they remain in house even now.

Don't the vendors have a menu to pull up for doing clothing though? I don't remember a similar thing for NPC's / hirelings.

No after you hire an npc you can take their armor and weapons and rearm them. I just did it. Just take it from their hand or off their person and replace it with better. Just open their paperdoll.

So out of curiosity, is all of this era accurate?

I never remember seeing any vendors with helmets and weapons...i never tried hiring npc's to steal/sell their gear, lol.
