Would a char with dexer skills and provo be any good?

Well, a bard is good at pve. A dexxer is good at pve. So, if you put them together than yah it should be pretty good.

I would consider:

100 swords
100 tactics
80 heal
80 anatomy
100 music
100 prov
100 hiding
40 Magery

Less hiding and higher anat would work too. It really depends on your playstyle. Personally I would keep the template that's up there if there if you really want a swordsman. As a dexxer/bard I would go with an archer instead myself.

My warrior bard was:

100 swords
100 tactics
100 healing
100 anatomy
100 music
100 provo
100 hiding

I just used recall scrolls to get in/out of dungeons, and even with 0 magery it didn't fizzle that much (and not like you lose the scroll). Otherwise going between towns was easy enough using moongates.

I tried doing 70 hiding and 30 magery at first, but I felt it was pointless since I was still using the recall scrolls anyways.

If you want to get away from PKs, you will want that better chance to recall for sure

40 Magery w/ scrolls = 85-90% chance to recall
0 Magery w/ scrolls = 10% chance to recall

I died to PKs only once out of multiple attempts on my life as my warrior bard, and that was only because it was 2 reds and 3 blues running around together. It was easy enough to see a red name then just run towards the closest exit, then half the time they're too lazy to chase or I would just hide when I got off their screen (as the few minority actually have tracking).

And you may or may not be right on the percentages, but it definitely didn't feel like a 10% chance and I don't ever remember once having to use a scroll more than 5 times to recall. Even then it wasn't that often.
