Exploration Tips:
* NPCs can get "confused" when too many players are standing next to them in groups saying random trigger words, so if you are having trouble advancing, have extra characters nearby remain quiet, or step at least 3-4 tiles away for best results.

* If you aren't sure if you're in the right spot, look for mead. If mead is there, you're somewhere that relates to this quest.

* When in doubt, if you really feel something is broken, let me know.

The following report is brought to you by The Core, a player ran Pirate guild occupying a place known as Red Skull Bay. The original document can be found here.
HardCore wrote:While dusting off me blood soaked hat after a heated battle in the Jungles of Trinsic, a letter was discovered in Red Skull Bay by an unknown "friend".

Image

The Core decided to investigate the Bucs Den House of Baths which has been guarded by another pirate crew. The Core quickly dispatched the scallywags and discovered a map to a hidden secret.....

Image

In the far end of the hidden caves beneath Bucs Den, a cut up body which appeared to be Dupre was found laying next to a journal.....

Image

It appears something is going to happen in the City of Trinsic. Who is this Alastor that Dupre speaks of? We will investigate! Yar!
HardCore wrote:The Dread Captain HardCore sent his finest Hashashins to investigate the mysterious death of Dupre and the implications that the Mayor of Trinsic, Alastor Gordon was up to no good.

Image

It was reported back that Alastor is actually the first mate to the murdered dreaded pirate Hawkins! Alastor, also going under the name Lord Whitsaber had done his best to keep this a secret and live an honest life as the mayor of Trinsic. Drunken ramblings at the Gritty Pitcher Tavern located in Red Skull Bay say that Dupre knew of Alastor's buccaneer past and was going to blackmail him to gain access to Hawkins' treasure map.

Image

Captain HardCore gathered all info on Alastor and all known acquaintances.

The Ten Pirates of Hawkins were former members of the crew of Captain Hawkins.

The Pirates are:
Alastor Gordon (a.k.a. Lord Whitsaber)
Heftimus McPry
Bonn
Nathaniel Moorehead
Morchella
Unnamed Pirate
Ol' Hawknose
Old Ybarra
Sandy
Homer

These people were very important for the Avatar to locate the Treasure Map of Hawkins, which nine of these people each had a part of. The map was needed to find the Silver Tablet in order to translate the Book of Prophecies.

After catching wind of the stories being passed around from carrier to carrier, the town officials in Trinsic held a secret meeting while Alastor was away.

Lord Shamino, a long time resident of Trinsic lead the conversation.

It will take further investigation and searching for any evidence that could link Alastor to Dupre's death. The clues are out there.

More information from The Core:

We arrived at Valor Island to find a chest with some evidence of Pirate Hawkins burial as well as map and sea chart from Alastor himself!

Image

The Core made its way to the first spot on the map to discover another map and journal.....

The Dread Captain HardCore will be sailing the high seas for the next few days and will leave the investigation up to The Core and any curious landlubbers! Yar!

The Baths Clan should be cut down at all costs!

The following report is brought to you by the LAW guild. The original document can be found here.
Anna wrote:After receiving news from Fiona, an official from the township of Delucia, that pirates have been more active as of late, Jessie K Jepsen, the Guildmistress of LAW, decided that we should be sure that our sea gates were not being used to harbor pirates, as they have been known to in the past. She lead an expedition from the docks of Puapua to the Serpent Pillars in search of signs of the nefarious Bath's pirates. We had sailed from the Sea of Harmony to Sok' Gah when we discovered that the Great Lighthouse was being overrun with pirates!

Image

Image

We attempted to convince them to lay down their arms and turn themselves in, but they were immune to our songs of peace! They seemed adamant about fighting to the bitter end as you can see by this evidence Lady Bath left behind!

There seems to be more to this story of a simple uprising of angry pirates caught in a war. Jessie decided that we should give this evidence to the officials of Trinsic and investigate this "prophet" and his "soul ring".

We set sail from the Sea of Harmony to the shores of Trinsic to bring the news when we discovered this small cache of pirate plunder, no doubt left by Lady Bath, or so we thought...

Image

We found gold, Alastor’s personally tailored pants with his initials, and a confession! We thought it would be best to leave it as evidence for the officials of Trinsic and we continued to the docks. There we found a fisher by the name of Kal, who claimed that Alastor Gordon had been here only a few days ago!

Image

After speaking with Kal, we noticed some items of Alastor and foot prints, and decided to investigate further before reaching the council in Trinsic. We followed them all the way to Alastor’s Hall which we met a fellow by the name of Jax. He told us he knew information about Alastor!

Image

Despite the strong evidence recently given against Alastor, we decided to investigate his home to find out just what kind of man Alastor really was. From the looks of it, he had certainly obtained rare items form faraway places. Perhaps he was just a frequent traveler? After thorough examination of his belongings we found another journal that said otherwise:

Image

Image

All this investigating was working up a thirst for Gothra one of the members of LAW! So he went to go drink from the salt water fountain, and before i could tell him to stop he disappeared! Confused, he yelled for us to come to the fountain and to our surprised a glyph teleported us to the roof!

Image

We stood before this abattoir ready for anything and approached... suddenly we were teleported to a strange room! In it we found a map with a location marked and no other evidence.

Image

Image

The location on the map appeared to be near the Court of Love, so we headed there next! It was a mysterious thing to leave out, almost as if it wanted to be found. Not many commoners know that the Yew Prison and the Great Lighthouse are in fact connected through secret passageways! We became concerned that this was being used to sneak out prisoners and pirates both! We became even more concerned by the fact that the most dangerous prisoner was being jailed there right now! We burst into the top level of the jail to find it completely under control. Then we noticed this book:

Image

It appeared to be a note from a "Nate the prophet", and we can assume after reading this evidence that he is in fact the person we seek. He mentioned that they had already acquired the items he needed for what can only be assumed as some sort of attack!

We decided that we needed to find his lair and put a stop to whatever he had planned with Lutsyn the Mad and this "soul ring". We searched the forests of Yew, starting in the crypts, but found nothing! He was a clever person this "Nate the prophet", as this would be the first place most would have sought out. We began to comb the forest and eventually found an odd spilling of blood in an open mound of dirt...

Image

It looks like we had found his lair and his mead! Although uneasy to learn of where this mead was coming from, we were more concerned the fact that we had found the Soul Ring, but his magic’s have already locked it into place. We search the room for more clues to find another note as well as a blank map...

Image

This unfortunately ends LAW's report, the only closure we can take to heart is in the fact that Lady Bath's Pirates were found and that there is evidence now of who Alastor is, as well as more information about this Nate the Prophet.

The Captain was on a mission at sea for a few days and returned to find Red Skull Bay up in flames! The dirty Bath House pirates did not take The Core's invasion lightly and are invading Red Skull Bay regularly!

Image

HardCore was told that the guild LAW had also been in search of Alastor and stumbled across something even more sinister than the Bath House crew waging war against PEE! It appears that Nate the Prophet has been pulling all the strings in this plot twist! HC made his way to the Yew Prison to investigate further. It appears that another journal was left behind.....

Image

The Dread Captain HardCore is now calling for Parlay! LAW and other landlubbers willing to investigate the lost lands in search of Nate are wanted! The Core can continue to fight off the inferior Bath House pirates but locating Nate and Lord Draxinusom using the wisdom of the Vitures will be a much harder task!

While The Core has been fighting off the invading pirates in between dueling landlubbers at the dock, HardCore set out to investigate the 8 shrines. Maps were found at each with varying clues written on them. The pirates of Red Skull Bay are calling on Jesse K Jepsen and the landlubbers of LAW to meet at The Gritty Pitcher Tavern to start piecing together the mystery before Britannia is invaded and all hope is lost! Yar!

LAW agreed to meet with The Core, and after some formal introduction and friendly pirate banter, we started to decode the clues! We began with the clue from Valor that had "CHHHJSSV" written in blood. We counted the shrines and found that there are indeed the same number of shrines as there are letters, in fact the letters seem to be in alphabetical order for the first letter of each shrine! This gave us the order in which to approach the clues. Compassion, Honesty, Honor, Humility, and Justice became a usable coordinates.

After some rum and conversation on the newly discovered clues at the shrines, PEE and LAW set off to locate what was next!

Image

Our forces ran into a band of gargoyles and a battle broke out! We continued to push on and finally reached Lord Draxinusom! Draxinusom threatened to kill all humans if Lord British did not give him what he wanted.

Image

We decided to bring this news to Jersen in Britain to find out what Draxinusom really wanted. Jersen was shocked that Draxinusom had returned and asked that we go back and tell him he is not to return.

This message was met with laughter and a threat that he will be coming! We went back to Jersen to give him the news.....

Nate the Prophet has not yet been located, but it is believed that he is roaming Britannia, possibly staying under the radar of authorities now that his plans have been exposed.

There is already talk about town about the war between human and gargoyle that is coming. It's amazing what a little bit of alcohol can do to the rumor-mill.

Britain is preparing it's army with aid from the town of Minoc. Mayor Burnside has arrived at the cellar under Lord British's castle.

With the assurance of an impending war, LAW was on its highest alert! We immediately went on the defensive and sent
an order to Delucia requesting an increase in our town defenses while a small party of LAW went to see the general
to offer our aid for this war.

While awaiting the official order to be approved, LAW decided to search around Britain for clues to Nate's great
escape. While searching we noticed a new attraction added to Britain, obviously gone unnoticed due to all the talk
of war in the region...

Image
Image
Image

After revisiting the Brit Library to see if any new evidence had turned up, we had decided it was time for a drink!
Image

After a hot meal and few well deserved drinks, we overheard a patron at the bar...
Image

LAW was already well aware of this, but becoming anxious as to what its role would become in this war, we decided
to pay Jarsen another visit...
Image

Obvious that Jarsen had more important things to attend to, we decided to seek out this West Britain Warriors
group...
Image

After many attempts to communicate with this "Amado"... it seemed it was obvious he wasn't going to just open the
door for us. Determined to relay this information to someone of authority, we decided that we would find our own
way in. We searched around the premises but found no obvious "secret door" as most places seemed to in lands. That
is when I had noticed that a hive of bees was in a tree near by. I thought to myself, if I didn't want someone to
find a way in how would i keep them out? With a lever and an angry bee hive of course!
Image

Once inside Amado seemed to be without answers or information, and it became quite clear that he was not here to
help us... After a frustrating LONG time, Gothra finally grew tired and decided to sit and wait it out. He peered
in front of him to find a book with a message, and after reading it aloud, he immediately knew the answer!
Image

He shouted it out and seemed to disappear in thin air! Kailea and I, very confused, investigated immediately, and
found that a trap door had been attached to this chair!

After a fall that seemed to be from a fairy tale, we found ourselves on a very hard and wet sewer floor...
Image

We investigated to find a lone guard by a single gated entrance, and even though we asked nicely to be let in, he
would not budge! So we went back to finding our own way in...

The security was tight, but the guard did end up letting us pass anyways, and we found ourselves in a room of lost
precious totems and artifacts. Dazzled by these ancient treasures, I began to document them.. almost forgetting why
we were here in the first place...Thats when Kailea, another member of LAW, informed me that she found the lever
and that we needed to pass on...
Image

We proceeded into the next room to find some guards that seemed to be unable to be roused out of their comfortable
positions that they have been appointed! It even appeared as tho the female guard was washing her nails while the
male guard was playing solitaire! Appalled, yet not surprised, we moved on through the snake-like hallway to find
more precious antiques and more inattentive guards...
Image
Image

We arrived to find a gruesome scene! Some poor unliked guard was left to be crushed against these rocks without
resurrection! We searched for hours only to find that the first set of levers would in fact let us back in this
dismal and dreary room!
Image

You needed at least one other person to pull the lever at the beginning of the dungeon to remove the rock to let
someone in the back. After one person was in, you can use the lever on the platform to remove the rock again.

Even upon reaching the back room, and spending hours of time, we were never able to reach this switch on the wall.
Thwarted by all attempts to make the switch-flipping a reality, we moved on. Gothra finally found this light source
to be the key to our salvation and finally found the fabled War Room!
Image
Image
Image

Even after the threats of imprisonment met by general Sorgan, LAW was finally able to offer our help with Britain's
war efforts! Tired after a long days shenanigans, we left the War Room and decided to sight-see around the castle
when we stumbled across this...
Image

It appeared that the general had his own personal switch to the War Room! Flustered, but relieved to be able to
finally relay the message, LAW decided that we would return to Delucia and await further instructions for their
part in this War. And thus, this concludes reporter Joe's report.

Nice job so far folks, but there are more clues to be found about Nate the Prophet. The Gargoyle Wars is actually it's own story and not directly related to Dark Secrets.

Also, all of Nate's journals (that have been discovered by players) have been secured and moved to Britain's Public Library, this includes entry #1 through #5.

Might not be too helpful since Elk Eater has already uncovered Nate's location it seems, but I found an NPC named Basil in Vesper that relates to this event.

It would appear that Nate the Prophet has made his way through multiple establishments, almost undetected!

Nate's 6 journal was located in Trinsic's Paladin Library.

The Vesper Museum appears to have been robbed by Nate, as seen in his 7th journal, which has been secured and moved to the Public Library in Britain and is now part of the Dark Secrets archive.

Image

You might want to investigate further by asking questions to the museum manager or any other persons of interest you found (the Beekeeper was questioned by Markus, but I still encourage players to question these NPCs on their own to see if they can reveal additional clues or facts)

Image

For those coming in late on Dark Secrets...
Between this entire thread, and the books in the library, you should be able to get caught up to speed within just a few minutes.
Image

Elk Eater has discovered a persons of interest in Jhelom, as of now, only Elk has come forward with his discoveries on this and it is unknown if this is truly Nate, or just an distraction. Further search is required.
