Armour vs Dex

I am starting my first character here and haven't played UO since early 2k. I was wondering what effect if any Armour has on dex, I was told that leather is as good as plate now? I thought dexxers ran chain mail,ring mail or leather. which of these would be best for me to use? i wouldn't have thought plate would be all that grate for a dexxer lol..

Platemail lowers your Dexterity, but I have never had any Dexterity loss from Leather, Studded, Ringmail, or Chainmail.

I think the most popular armor configurations are...

closed helm, norse helm, or helmet because these do not have dex loss.
plate or studded gorget
chainmail tunic
chainmail leggings
ringmail gloves
ringmail or plate arms.

I use a mix of several armours.

Closed helm/norse helm/helmet
Plate gorg
Plate chest
Plate arms
Ring gloves
Chain legs

You do take quite a dex hit, however, with a Grtr Dex pot you can make up for this loss, and still be super armoured.
