New player looking for a venture capitalist!
I am a newer player here on UOSA, and I am in need of some help from established players out there. I have a few in-game "business ventures" I would love to get started on, but I keep getting set back and could really use an extra push from an elder here! My home was recently looted, which cost me nearly 100k. I was so close to my goal.
I need to get myself a large brick house, at very least, for space reasons. Once I can get myself established and self-sufficient, life will be easier and far less stressful. I'm sure there are those of you who remember what it was like to struggle to simply buy supplies.
I hope you have a great evening, and if you are able and willing to assist me - please send me a reply.
Sincerely,
Draconian

Please research 'Home Security'....
Re: New player looking for a venture capitalist!
if your struggeling to buy supplies like we all know we have? Then.shouldnt you optimize security and space in a small house and get yourself supplies rather than a large home
Re: New player looking for a venture capitalist!
Thank you for the info guys -- I have since read and understand home security much better than I did before. And to answer your question re: supplies and my chain or prioroties, I want you to understand my goal is self-sufficiency, not the purchase of supplies.
I need space for my ventures! It's as simple as that!
Again, I greatly appreciate your posts -- please keep them coming!

<@BoomlandJenkins> I got home, got on UO right away and I knew something was up before I even made it to the spawner, because there were 35+ in the Justice woods and not one person was PKing one another.
Re: New player looking for a venture capitalist!
I love it. but "Profit" is phase three!.. loved the underpants gnomes...
Please guys, I'm serious about this and comments like that aren't constructive. If helping me attain my goals isn't something you are interested in, great! If you disagree with me even asking this on the forums - Great! I can understand your point of view, but I'm not asking for it.
After all, you never know until you ask.

venture capitalist update
I would love to have someone loan me enough for a keep, however, since my original post I have learned how to make money effectively. At this rate (pretty slow), it will take me nearly a year to make the 500+K needed to buy the keep (well, 7.5 months)-- but that's just fine. I don't mind working for it.
However, if there is anyone out there who is filthy rich and doesn't mind taking the risk, let me know!
Thanks UOSA Community,

Re: New player looking for a venture capitalist!
Does this keep have anything to do with the space your business needs like we discussed when I contacted you regarding your initial request for a large brick deed? Or do you just want to live in a keep?
Are you also reluctant to be co-owned to a keep like you were when I proposed I'd let you live in a large brick house I own?
Basically you offer no explanation as to how this is needed for your business to prosper. Do you make money faster if you live in a keep, do you need the space or what? Wouldn't a tower be more suitable since it's pretty much the most space efficient building in the game?
If you are making less than 100k a month, I suggest you revise your business plan. With that kind of amounts I have a hard time believing in the ingenuity of your business plan and I also have a hard time buying your excuse to refuse the co-ownership on the basis that you need privacy so that no one can mess up your setup or copy your ideas. Here's some food for thought:
500k in 7.5 months -> 500k in 225 days -> 2.22k a day
Assuming the position of a venture capitalist, I do not find your business plan good enough to justify an investment worth more than half a million. Neither am I not particularly fond of the fact that you are not even willing to tell your potential investors what is it that you are up to.

Re: New player looking for a venture capitalist!
Apparently free help and free advice isn't good enough for some people, they always need more.
I owned my own tower(bought and paid for) in less than 8 weeks from nothing on this server and could probably afford a keep right now if I really put effort into it(nearly here 10 weeks). UO GLD isn't hard to come by. There's no way I'd ever invest in someone that projects less than 3k/day profit...
I can vouch for jekkis. If he's offered you use of a large brick for FREE then take it. It's outright insulting that you'd even turn something like that down. Players on this server like jekkis have reputations to uphold and frankly, it isn't worth their time to go through the lengths it would take to scam a new player or rob them in a house that they've openly offered you use of on the forums.

Re: New player looking for a venture capitalist!
I appreciate the input guys, I really do.....but as you can see from my above replies, I really don't care to hear your opinions on the matter! I am a college student who doesn't have much time to play until Winter intersession. Being able to make any money at all or finding time to play is hard enough. Just because I am limited on time doesn't mean my methods aren't profitable. I can't do what I really want to do to make money, I have to settle on bowcrafting until I can afford the space. If you think about it, someone in my position needs to have the most profitable and efficient means of making money, as a result of my schedule.
You guys are extremely short sighted if this is all you have to offer. Especially you Sercruse, wow. Try to see this from the point of view of someone who has more in their life than Ultima Online. Like kids.... school.... work... exercise.... because it's apparent that you were reallllly busy during your first 8 weeks in game. I don't have that luxury. Plus, you have no earthly idea what you're talking about!
Jekkis, you have been a great help and a wonderful advisor, but please keep your comments constructive. Just because you can't understand what I'm doing doesn't mean it's not worthwhile. From an investment standpoint, the fact that I didn't tell you (Jekkis), a potential investor, any details just lends more credence to the plan in question. Now the person who actually does invest has an upper hand on those who didn't. Since you guys have so much gold just sitting around, I want you to know that *not losing gold* isn't the same as gaining gold. In this environment gold hoarding is kind of petty and senseless, regardless of your situation. When I am able, I will gladly assist those that are really trying to shatter the glass ceiling.
In case you guys didn't understand what I wrote, let me recap:
"but that's just fine. I don't mind working for it. However, if there is anyone out there who is filthy rich and doesn't mind taking the risk, let me know!"
No begging, just a request suited to someone other than you.

Re: New player looking for a venture capitalist!
Oh wow. Im lolling so hard right now. I have a raging clue. This guy is either:
A. A spoiled entitled kid.
B. A scammer
Ive been here since..
<<<Whatever that date is, and Im about to buy a 2 story. 90% from chopping damn trees. Its a free game thats 15 years old. Get off your lazy ass and earn it or just live with the fact you cant have it. As well as the whole "gold hoarding, must give me some" mentality. Socialism doesnt work in UO, let alone the real world. In order to appreciate money and be responsible with it you have to earn it yourself. Im not going to give you something because you dont feel like putting the effort into working for it.
Nothing gets me more than entitled kids that feel like they should have something just because they and "it" exist, with no thought to what other people have put into things to earn them.
I hope you never have more than a small house, unless you earn it yourself selling fish steaks.

Re: New player looking for a venture capitalist!
I have 1000 heating stands ready.
It just pisses me off when people like jekkis (who spent an hour with me when I was new helping me) go and try and help people out of the kindness of his heart and then gets sh*t on by some jerk that looks a gift horse in the mouth.
