He said he was here for a year.
Speaking from experience - the hardest thing, when you're a young player, is acquiring gold. While knocking the rust off, I had forgot most of the old hunting grounds and some I hadn't bothered to learn before I quit in OSI days. I read the wiki and the forums for the best way to start out - bard. Ok... now I have a bard... what next? Where to go? I finally had the pleasure of meeting a nice person who showed me how to get to cyclops valley.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day - teach him to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.
There should be a group (not a guild) of established players "on-call" (similar to some of the housing brokers) to help newbies. The forums and IRC are very intimidating for the UN-initiated. I like the idea of having the town cryers directing new players to a place for them to start - forum threads/signs/places etc... how hard could it be to have a webform for new players to "page" helpers via email or PM to meet at a location/time this address could be what the town cryers are directing them towards.
