If you successfully invis at a public vendor house and then hide successfully you come out of hiding at the normal invisibitlity timer. Which you should never come out of hiding if successful unless you break the hiding.

EDIT skill should take over invis spell at any location not just public vendor i think

Yeah, I was aware of this behavior but wasn't sure of it's accuracy. It's default runUO behavior. I'll fix it.

The fix is in for next shard restart.
If you Invis then stealth (without hiding) you will still be revealed though.
