STEALING IS COMPLETELY OVERPOWERED!
How the hell can a thief steal from you on a horse and continue running until your mount is out of stamina?
How the hell can a thief steal from you and run a few steps away and hide....
How the hell can a thief steal from you and recall?
How the hell can a thief steal from you and you cant call guards?
it would be more beneficial to be a god damn thief than any seven gm account... they can get away with anything its completely ridiculous...
are no changes going to be made to the thieving system??

put your stuff in a pouch, trap it, then drop it on the edge of your pack so that it moves it to the very edge inside your pack, then drop 4 or 5 more trapped pouches on top of it the same way, then put 5-10 dresses on top of that.

Re: STEALING IS COMPLETELY OVERPOWERED!
It's pretty obvious that you were the victim of a thief. Care to talk about it? It might help you vent.
Yes, thieving is VERY annoying, but indeed part of gameplay. The issues you are dealing with are classic thieving abilities available in T2A.
HOWEVER. You will eventually protect yourself by learning from your mistakes and make future choices that will help you against thieves. I'm sure you can get some help here.

Yeah it happens, this thread has some good advice http://forum.uosecondage.com/viewtopic.php?p=32525 read it, learn and move on. I made a GM tinker purely for the trapped lockboxes, it's great for pack/house security and has lots of other fun applications too. Watching thieves blow themselves up never gets old.

Re: STEALING IS COMPLETELY OVERPOWERED!
Alot of thieving can be prevented by following a few simple rules.
Rule #1
Bank early, bank often.
Your bank is the ONE container that is Guaranteed to be safe (barring any horrible account thefts). Consider any items on your character as a gamble. This is especially true when exploring outside the protection of the town guards.
Rule #2
Respect Your Personal Space.
Thieves must be VERY close to you in order to steal. There is really no reason for another strange player to be 0-2 spaces away from you. Give yourself some personal space. And anyone violating that space, you should back away and pull their healthbar.
-If you're in town, wait to see it turn grey or get a system message saying they are stealing from you then have that "guards" command ready.
-If you are outside town, Keep your distance, or just leave. It's not worth risking your items.
Rule #3
Moongates are a thief's home away from home.
The public moongates can often be chaotic, and an easy way out for a thief to run. They can even sit there hidden and just wait for a victim to pop up, steal, then be in another random place in the world, very far away from them.
Rule #4
Just because you don't see anyone, doesn't mean no one's there.
Hiding and stealth is generally a thief's go-to skill. Eventually you'll start to see areas as "hiding spots" more than just the map. You'll learn to get a sixth sense, about areas thieves could be hiding. Or it might just be paranoia. Either way, thieves DO HIDE, and they are known to be patient enough to wait for the right moment to steal from you.
Rule #5 (VERY IMPORTANT)
Don't let your anger cloud your judgment.
Just because a player took your stack of bandages, your tmap, or some regs, doesn't mean all is lost. Often, chasing after the thief in a post-theft rage will lead you into making poor decisions, resulting in running into a gank, another theft, or other unfortunate fate. If you can take them down right off, do so, but each moment after that is another call for Murphy's Law. Basically, you must make a decision: "Is the rest of my inventory worth what was just stolen from me?"
So, try to follow those rules and you should be fairly well protected. But of course, some thieves are very resourceful and enterprising. That's what makes this game fun, spontaneous, and challenging. Just keep on your toes.

Can you tell me the name of the thief that was harassing you?

Stop banking in Brit and Vesper. Problem solved.

How the hell can a thief steal from you on a horse and continue running until your mount is out of stamina?
Thief walks everywhere, steals from you and takes off running. Chances are you weren't walking before the chase
How the hell can a thief steal from you and run a few steps away and hide....
Hit stealing hotkey, wait the 8 or 10 secs, steal, hide
How the hell can a thief steal from you and recall?
Steal, recall. This method is very effective out of town
How the hell can a thief steal from you and you cant call guards?
Thief succeeds in stealing, no guards can be called but he is perma grey and can be attacked. You can check this by trying to steal from him. If you get any message other than "You must be in the thieves guild.." he is free to attack.

Thieving has been nerfed several times on this shard, pretty sure.

Re: STEALING IS COMPLETELY OVERPOWERED!
Yeah these razor combat thieves are amazing.
I went after one I caught stealing from me a while back.
We were both mounted and he was running all around so I equipped my bow and started plunking.
He'd race in to get a strike at me, I'd run and plunk....
It was going nowhere, so I dropped my bow and tried to macro up my DPed Kryss -GONE!
Hit the hotkey for my warfork and shield, both gone. Spear... also taken.
Tried to bring the bow back up, but he ran in for whack at me while I was fumbling through the hotkeys and got that too.
And all my recall scrolls!
I was out of weapons save my newbie dagger. What could I do? I tried to flee to the bank to reequip but his connection was faster and got me before I could make it there.
Good strategy anyway if you can figure out how to razor it...

Re: STEALING IS COMPLETELY OVERPOWERED!
This is my only complaint about Razor: "Stealing by Target Type".
It breaks the game and does overpower stealing.
I wonder if there is some way to prevent the ability to 'target by type' server side.

Re: STEALING IS COMPLETELY OVERPOWERED!
Unfortunately, that would break lots of other macros that depend on "target by type" -- such as mining, lumberjacking, etc. I don't know if it's possible to prevent is specifically for stealing though.Kraarug wrote:This is my only complaint about Razor: "Stealing by Target Type".

Re: STEALING IS COMPLETELY OVERPOWERED!
There is virtually nothing that can be done about "target by type".
When first joining this shard, thieves were my main complaint as well...It's certainly more of a problem here than it has been anywhere in the past because all the thieves are gm with next to no effort.
