Mana Vampire
I don't know the T2A world that well.... but I was wondering, I have a thief with 50 resist and I was casting MV on him with my mage... it took about 8 tries to actually get through the resist. I was wondering if this was always the case? I never see it used so I'm guessing it is. Still 8 tries for 50 resist.. I can't even imagine how long it would take with 100. If anyone has a clue if this is accurate let me know. Thanks.
Re: Mana Vampire
I'm surprised you even got one through at 50
Mana Vampire and Mana Drain have insanely high chances to resist, that don't follow the regular resist formula. If you know a victim has 0 Resist, and casts a lot of spells*, it's useful to throw a couple Mana Drains at them. Otherwise, it's a waste of time.
*Come to think of it, this is probably best used against tamers, many of whom choose Eval Int or Hiding over Resist, yet typically need 40 mana to escape an attack with their pets. Also useful against treasure hunters, who typically have 100 meditation but 0 resist. Of course they only need 11 mana to escape with their riches.

Re: Mana Vampire
Ahhh.. that explains it. I'm guessing it was always like this as well?
Re: Mana Vampire
I believe, during T2A, yes it was always like this. If you hunt around, you can find the patch notes for sometime in 1998 I think when they raised the chance to resist these spells from the regular formula to their current values.
