Archery WTF
Back from hiatus and jump on my stealth archer to have a little fun and wtf happens? Archery is in hangfire mode. WTF is going on I attck and there's a lag time before firing. I've tried bows, crossbows and heavy crossbows. The same thing happens, what happened? If this crap remains I guess I'll have to retire my favorite toon, damnit!

I don't appreciate miss-quotes even in humor.
There are people out there narrow enough to take that as a true quote.
Archery just saw a nice fix and is not all that bad in the hands of a dexer. (less delay on equip)

Less delay is worthless IMO, seems like there was an archer bot "fix" that was slipped in on us. Archery is now a useless skill I've tried it out and the new changes have gimped archers to the point that it's of no use at this juncture. Well guess I can stand around at the bank and take "delayed" pot shots at thieves. Kinda sorry I came back

As I understand it, there should be a 2.25 second delay between when you double-click something, and when it gets dealt damage.
Yes, this sucks.
However in my testing, it has been much longer than that. I'd encourage you to test as well; at the very least, it would be an improvement from where it is now to get it down to the 2.25 seconds we currently think it's supposed to be.

Hmm. Is it a 2.25 delay between attacking (double clicking and OMGARCHERBOT is Attacking You!) and the arrow being shot (hence damage will be dealt), or between attacking and the damage actually being dealt. The latter isn't so bad as long as the arrowing being really shot isn't too delayed.

And it is bad, when OMGARCHERBOT is Attacking You comes at 0.0 on the clock, and your target has 2.25 seconds to get more than 10 tiles from the archer (who must be stationary lest the arrow be wasted with no chance of hitting) to dodge the shot completely. 10 tiles on horseback is not much... and considering you're probably 5 tiles from your target to begin with...
From Faust's description, it seems as though the 2.25 second delay was definitely in the demo code. Beyond that, it comes down to interpretation of patch notes and such.

I've been working on it to see and it's almost a whole 3 seconds AFTER you attack something before the arrow or bolt releases, then there's a slight delay until the hit or miss is calculated because there's a pause until the audible hit is heard then a slight delay until damage is dealt. All in all it's like almost 4 seconds for an archery attack to resolve. By then your target is long gone or has hacked or e-bolted you into the dirt. A little archer love PLEASE

Archery ended up being almost one second faster in between shots after the latest large patch that changed some of the pvp mechanics for the swing timer. However, it's also possible to 'dodge' the arrow by getting out of range now The combat skill pretty much received some bonuses but maintained plenty of bad features on top of that too.

I attacked someone the other day after having my heavy xbow equipped for a solid 5 minutes. He didn't even realize I was attacking for about 4 seconds, because I wasn't shooting or doing anything. So after that 4-second eternity, I just recalled away, out of shame more than anything
