Raising Healing at 80ish
Raising Healing at 80ish
Was very pleased to see a overnight macro of me healing a friend who was taking a wizards hat on an off took my healing from 48ish to 80 with about 4k bandages. (anat from 40 to almost 90)
Should i start ressing now? or can i continue to use the hat trick. I have heard people say do the hats to over 90.
Im running a macro with 500 aids now ressing, and ill note the gains and do 500 with the hat trick an post what i find.
Is one way quicker than the other?

Re: Raising Healing at 80ish
Well it seemed skill gains from ressing started taking off alot better around 82-83 (which is also when my real skill was around 80)
I think you may want to heal with the wizzard hat to 82 or 83 before starting to rez
Question, i remember curing poison with an AID only taking 5-6 seconds. (not 16 which is useless in pvp and sometimes useless in PvM)
am i just not remembering this correctly or is it something that was added after the era?

Re: Raising Healing at 80ish
Healing and curing yourself with bandages on here are off.May 25 1999 9:41AM CST - Healing delays have been adjusted: -
Healing someone else now takes 5 seconds. Healing yourself still takes 15 seconds.
Curing poison on someone else now takes 6 seconds. Curing it on yourself still takes 18 seconds.
The delay for resurrecting with the healing skill is now ten seconds.
Re: Raising Healing at 80ish
Thanks. Correction coming soon.

Deleted my first post on here. Found the info.

Re: Raising Healing at 80ish
I dont know what the era specific number is supposed to be but curing poison taking more than 6 seconds makes it useless. (for poison, still great for health)
Like i said, im not sure when they changed it.
It does interest me in the philosophy by the admins/developers here.
What is more important in your minds? being era specific or making common sense changes such as peacemaking not working and curing poison with Aids that osi either looked over or just missed?
...Im new here and not questioning the work you guys have done, im just curious as to what your mindset behind it is?
Era specific rulesets are what brought me here. Era specific skill sets is a little bit of a downer bc to OSI's credit they made some nice improvements to "busted skills"

Re: Raising Healing at 80ish
I listed the exact numbers above straight from the patch notes during '99.Hoots wrote:I dont know what the era specific number is supposed to be
The only time EA developers changed it after that was a little before UOR when they based it off of the amount of dex the person had.Hoots wrote: Like i said, im not sure when they changed it.
The goal of UOSA is to re-create UO during the second age time period.Hoots wrote:

Re: Raising Healing at 80ish
Is this going to make it harder/slower for healers to heal?
My one problem with this would be if it starts making tank mages the only true way to go and dexxers basically mroe and more obsolete. Making variety less and more to the cookie cutter isn't a good thing in my opinion.

Re: Raising Healing at 80ish
Well I am not sure what Derrick is planning on doing with this. However, I know the current system is based on the newer style where dex plays a role into how fast you heal. If this is reverted back to how it should be dexer's will heal slightly slower but not harder than they do now. If this is the case this is how healing "should" and "did" work during the second age. I don't see it making much of a difference though. The playstyle for a dexer will be no different if this is corrected.
Things could be mucher more worse for a dexer. Dexers should be very grateful that the bug isn't implemented where you took an extra slip when hit by a damage spell during this era.

Re: Raising Healing at 80ish
Well I'm sure if it was documented somewhere we'd get screwed like that too. Right now from what I counted out it doesn't seem to take 18 seconds to cure. Its not about "dexxers should consider themselves fortunate...". I see it this way... if it isn't broken... why fix it. Its been this way for awhile now. Why change it now? Just to make dexxers even less viable on the battlefield?
I think OSI's stupid oversight on the timer is stupid to implement. It should be dex based if you think about it. Either way this shard is still great so whatever the Devs decide to do... it will be done. No matter how much griping we do. I just hate seeing things going the way of tank mages or gotta be mage to do well.

Re: Raising Healing at 80ish
There are 3 distinct periods of time where healing worked in one way or another, the pre-May 99 system (which I don't have the specific numbers to), the May 99 to January 2000 time frame, and the post-January time frame. Each is technically accurate to the T2A era, and it falls to Derrick to make the decision about which one we use here.
