Best laptop for budget to play UOSA on?

Post by Mens Rea »

Hi,

I'm looking into buying a new laptop on my cheap ass budget... I've put my required specs into a price comparrison site and want to know what one is best? As far as I can tell the only major difference between the two more expensive ones is that one is a triple-core 2.2ghz and the other one is a dual-core 2.53ghz?

What is the best one for playing UOSA on?

Would there be much difference for other applications between the two processors?

Or, let's say I buy a quad-core 2.0ghz for playing UOSA...

Would that be able to run, for instance, Starcraft 2 which recommends a 2.4ghz dual core???

I am so confused - I just want to play UOSA but have other questions.

Every computer I buy tends to last me several years. My current laptop I bought in mid 2006 and it wasn't real high end at that time. You could buy a computer with similar specs in 2004-2005 for not too much. In my experience you can basically ignore minimum system requirements for any game.

I have a laptop from 4 years ago that runs 3 clients of UO just fine, with like 6 other programs running as well, and it even runs the horrible operating system known as vista

The only thing that really matters is the screen size, UOSA is based off of a game from 1997 it doesn't take much to run it.

And on that note, I hate playing on my 13" laptop. It's too small. 15"+ recommended

Give us a $USD budget number and I am sure some people can reccomend some laptop specs that would work well. UO doesnt take mutch, so a dual core would more than suffice. The main thing now a days is memory and lots of it. Especially if you are running Win 7. I have an i7, 4gb memory and it eats 3 clients up....along with outlook, corp program, multiple IE windows, work chat client, design program etc etc lol. Its a beast.

Intel® Core™ i7-620M (2.66GHz, 4M cache) (with Turbo Boost Technology)

4gb memory seems to work fine for me.....I have yet to run out.
