Fishing - What Skill is needed for MIBs?

Post by Zehrfox »

I am currently fishing in deep water from a boat (obviously), and yes, I do watch my guy macroing (no unattended deep sea fishing)

My skill is at 91.4, but I am still pulling up the same items, that I did when my skill was 50, although more fish, less footwear lately.

At what skill level do I begin to get Treasure maps and MIBs (Message in a Bottle)? Are there any other things you can fish up, like shipwreck stuff, etc?

Do you have to move around a lot to get those, I tend to stay in the same area most of the time. Any help would be appreciated :)

You need 100 skill to fish up MiB's, but you need 0 skill to go retrieve them.

all good questions. I believe you can fish up level 1 treasure maps after 90 skill, but you must be GM (or 99.0, I forget) in order to fish up a MiB. Double-clicking the MiB gives you an SoS message with coordinates to go to in order to fish up the treasure chest as well as various items "lost" from this given shipwreck. So, yes, you will have to move around quite a lot in order to fish up the different shipwrecked loot. hope this helps

havent fished on UOSA yet, but on OSI if you had the MIB and were fishing the EXACT spot the of the coordinates, you would fish up everything from the wreck right there and wouldnt have to move around to find it. you could fish it up no matter what your skill was but the higher your skill the faster you get the chest which would contain all the lost items. If you were lower skill, you might fish items from the wreck up before you would get the chest. Nonetheless you would get all the items no matter if you fished the chest up immediately (they would be inside it) or if u fished the items up then the chest (just wouldnt be in the chest). Also, if you were above a certain fishing skill level (i believe it was 80) and you failed while simply fishing, it would spawn a deep sea serpent which could have a T-map or MIB on him

Well, I finally hit GM! Woo Hoo!

Here is what I experienced.

25-94 Skill - Nothing but wish and footwear
94-99 Skill - Starting getting Treasure Maps, about 1 every 1-2 hours
100 - Finally starting getting MIBs, I would say about 1 every 2 hours of fishing

The first 6 hours after I hit GM, I didn't get ANY MIBs, I was very discouraged!, but the next couple hours I got 3 of them, so it works out (kinda)
