Detect Hidden nerfed?

Recently I have been finding it really difficult to reveal hidden people. I have, and have had GM Detect Hidden for ages. I use to reveal hidden people everywhere. Some that I know were GM hiding and at great distances. But recently, I cant reveal some people even after I pinpoint the square they are in. I try 3 or 4 times and then have to resort to the 6th level spell Reveal.

Was their a patch about this? Why the nerf?

GM Detect Hidden doesn't mean you'll detect a hidden person 100% of the time, it's based on your Detect Hidden skill versus your targets Hiding skill. If you're both Grandmasters, I'd expect it to be a 50/50 chance of detecting someone or remaining hidden.

I know all that. Just saying it seems as though it is actually being implemented now I used to reveal Matron at my vendor from like 8 tiles away and she was GM. 1st try. Now I know exactly what tile someone is in and I try 4 times and nothing. Anyone else noticing it tougher?

its been this way for last 2 years+ and i use her quite often and countless time i have targeted literally the tile they are standing on and failed a few times in a row nothings changed still appears to be this way

At GM vs. GM, its 50/50 on the precise tile they are hiding on. As you get further from that, the chance gets lower and lower.

I think this is one of the more weakly-supported mechanics on this shard, as far as evidence goes, so research in this area might be fruitful. I looked into it a while back and was unable to find evidence of it working this way, but I was also unable to find detailed evidence of it working differently.

What was your sample size on this study, or was it purely anecdotal? I bet if you tested with your GM detecter, vs a GM hider, the mean success would approach 50% with respect to the sample size.

Anyways, I don't have a gm detector anymore but when I did a year ago it never seemed to fail under any circumstances. Maybe it was broken before, maybe there were always more people stalking me than I could detect.

Seems like its accurate now tho so I guess who cares!

It's been accurate the entire time I played here, and I spent a great deal of time hiding.
