Tailoring Leather Armor

Post by saves »

I have noticed I don't see anyone wearing any much, and I haven't been able to find a vendor selling any GM made so haven't been able to try it out.

Is there a reason no one uses it here? I noticed I fail med now and then without armor, does Leather hurt it a lot here or something? I just started thinking about this after I hit 85 tailoring, don't want to continue if thats the case and its ineffective for medding.

Otherwise if its just personal preferance not to wear it, I always liked to have it. I started UO in 99 up thru like 02 so I don't recall exactly what it was like. I know I did have a gm tailor on chessy tho, and always wore it on siege perilous.

Meditation is affected by armor. The more armor that you wear, the less you will meditate. In cases of 20+ total armor, or heavy chest pieces, you will also begin to fail at meditation (at GM skill). This is the main reason why no one wears leather armor.

Hope this helps :D

Leather effects med much less that metal armors. I'm still surprised I don't see it used more. I think it's fashion less than function
But exceptional cloth clothing can give an AR as well and not effect med

There isn't any difference between gm and exceptional which you should be able to make. I only have 69 tailoring and can make an exceptional set if I use female top/bottom.

It's sort of like plate mail. Most people choose less protection rather than get the dex or med penalty. It's really not that bad though(neither is plate). Just depends what you're doing. Looks good when you replace the cap with a deer or bear mask.

I checked it out, its a pretty big hit IMO.

I'm not exact on this just counting the pace of regen in my head, and recalling numbers I came up with this moring, but its like 1 mps(mana per second) passive without armor, and 2-3 wile medding, wile its around .3 mps (about 1 every 3-4 seconds) passive with full leather suit and 1 mps wile medding. Full suit medding was gaining same rate as passive without.

Either way, it was a pretty big hit for just like 14 ar. Not really worth it. I might try to time it out later after I get back from dinner plans tonight.

the armor doesn't account for the loss in med..
And kavian you still fail quite frequently with low mana even at gm with 0 armor.. :?
